Black fur, Chaos Warriors

In this tutorial, I'm going to show you a simple yet meticulous way of painting amazing black fur.
1. Start with basecoating the fur with any black. In this case I am suing Abaddon Black. The perfect paint consistency here is paint mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water.
2. Add a thick/wide/chunky edge highlight to every thread of fur with Dark Reaper, layer consistency. Layer = paint mixed 1:1 with water.
3. Add a thinner edge highlight of Dark Reaper mixed in a 1:1 ratio with Fenrisian Grey, layer consistency.
4. Add Fenrisian Grey, layer consistency, on the tips of every fur thread, to make them pop.
And that is it! This technique takes time but if you are painting a piece for a competition - I would recommend using it.
