Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!
Time for the third tutorial of the week – it will cover the topic of painting the Green Scabbard on the DarkoathChieftain. I've uploaded the PDF version of this tutorial here as well as the classic version below, so everyone should be pleased, hopefully! Let’s get into it.
1. Start by basecoating the scabbard area with a 1:1mix of Caliban Green and Black, layer consistency.

2. The first highlight will be done using a 1:1 mix of Caliban Green and Ushabti Bone, layer consistency. As you can see, highlights have been applied on all of the edges, and that’s where you should place them as well. Make sure to make these highlights wide enough, so that you can fit the next highlights inside of them, so there is a smooth transition between the colours.

3. Add shading in the middle part of the scabbard, using a glaze of black (glaze = paint mixed in a 1:3 ratio with water). This will increase the contrast and make the highlights pop even more.

4. Add a final edge highlight using a 1:3 ratio of Caliban Green and Ushabti Bone, layer consistency. Focus the highlight on the parts that should be the brightest, so the most raised parts. Have a look at the arrows and you will notice the logic in highlight placement.

And here is the final result (with some more details done for a more pleasing look)!

Here is a collage of all of the steps for convenience:

This tutorial should be very useful for anyone who wants to achieve a very beautiful, enchanting green color on their miniatures.
This tutorial is the third of 4 PDF tutorials about painting the legendary Darkoath Chieftain that I have prepared. The next one will cover the topic of painting NMM copper. You can expect to see it on my Patreon soon :)
Thank you very much for supporting me – it means the world to me! I dream of being able to paint and make tutorials full time, so if you like my Patreon – please tell your friends about it. It would make a massive difference to me and hopefully it will be very beneficial for your friends :)
Best wishes,
Mamikon
