White Chest Aquila - Terminator Raven Guard

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

In this tutorial I will teach you how to paint the White Chest Aquila to match the Eavy Metal boxart of the Raven Guard Terminator. The miniature I will use for this tutorial is one of the new Space Marine Terminators from the Warhammer 40K 10th Edition Starter Set - Leviathan. The PDF version of this tutorial is attached below. Let’s get into the tutorial!

1. Start with a basecoat of White, 2 layer* consistency coats of paint will be enough. The coverage does not have to be perfect at this point.

2. Mix Contrast Medium with StormVermin Fur in a 1-3 ratio and apply it over the entire surface of the Aquila. Just one coat will be enough.

3. Mix Contrast Medium with Administratum Grey in a 1-3 ratio and apply it in the reeceses, where the wings start. Use the arrows on the picture to understand the placement. We are trying to mimic a real wing that would be darker towards the place where it grows from, and bright towards the outer edges.

4. Edge highlight the entire Aquila with layer consistency white. Focus the stronger, bulkier edge highlights on the outer edges of the wings. I recommend White from AK Interactive, as it has very nice coverage and is very matte when it dries.

Here are some shots of the finished product:

This tutorial should be very useful for anyone who wants to replicate the official box art White Chest Aquila marking on their Space Marine Raven Guard miniatures.

Thank you very much for supporting me – it means the world to me! I dream of being able to paint and make tutorials full time, so if you like my Patreon – please tell your friends about it. It would make a massive difference to me and hopefully it will be very beneficial for your friends :)

*Layer consistently = paint mixed in a 1:1 ratio with water.

*Glaze consistently = paint mixed in a 1:3 ratio with water.

Best wishes,

Mamikon
