Silver Ball and Chain - Plague Monk

Hi fellow Wizards and Necromancers!

In this tutorial we will continue painting the beautiful Plague Monk model from the new Skabikk Plaguepack – I will show you I’ve painted the Silver Ball and Chain on this miniature. Explanation on layer and glaze consistency is in the end. A PDF version of this tutorial is also attached below for your convenience. Let’s get into the tutorial!

1. We will start with a layer consistency edge highlight on the chain using Stormvermin Fur. We will add this on top of a black basecoat.

2. We will follow that with a glaze consistency highlight of Fenrisian Grey, towards the lower part of each flat surface on the chain.

3. Next, we will start to add highlights on the ball (that is attached to the chain), also with Fenrisian Grey in glaze consistency. As you can see, I have added edge highlights and a bigger spot highlight in the place, where light is bouncing off of the surface. 3 thin coats of paint will work perfectly here.

4. Next, we will add a brighter highlight, using a 1:1 mix of Fenrisian Grey and White. As in the previous step on the chain, add this towards the bottom of every panel. As for the ball, add this highlight in the middle of the previous one, to allow a smooth transition between all of the shades of grey.

5. Next, we will add a single (1) very thin, glaze consistency coat of Fenrisian Grey all over the surface of the ball. This will work as a filter and make the whole bit brighter, as well as bringing all the colors together and marrying them to create a more natural look.

6.  In the final step, we will add a few edge and spot highlights with layer consistency White, just on the top facing parts.
