Looking forward to your Long Pond Studio Session reaction. Are you going to do the music videos for Midnights too since you've already reviewed the album? Really enjoying your channel!

Cardigan video: the clock is 1:15, but the hands are at 1 and 3 =13, her favorite number. the picture of the older gentleman is her grandfather (epiphany which is also track 13), and the painting of the house is her house in Rhode Island (the last Great American dynasty Holiday House). Taylor paints. So, she painted that. Yes to the pixie dust. The meaning of the video is really how music has been her lifeline, when in doubt she reaches for it and it has always been there for her. Willow video: She’s following the single thread of gold, the string, reminiscent of Invisible String. Through the tree, which is a willow tree. Taylor uses Easter eggs, so the guy is not random. He was one of her dancers from the Red tour. The ritual part is like her manifesting the guy to fall in love with her, or to appear. It’s “witchcraft” or “magic”. She is also dressed interestingly similar to Reputation era outfit. Keep in mind she directed both of these. Peter Pan and Wendy were kids and he obviously could fly and he came from Neverland, magical place, and he would come to her window. But Wendy was a real girl, from the real world not Neverland, so she aged and grew up. Peter Pan never grew up, so he lost her. Obviously this theme returns in TTPD with the song Peter, where she again plays Wendy who grew up and Peter lost her, because he never grew up. Of course the story of Peter Pan is just a metaphor for her love life, and there was someone who she knew when they were younger, who failed to really grow up, but she did grow up and is 34 now and so the guy eventually was going to lose her unless he grew up.

Ok kind of a side note- you should totally watch the 2003 Peter Pan movie!

😭😭 You calling in the Lakes is stunning! I do believe she is alluding that music is her escape, a coping mechanism, and a way to process her feelings. Cardigan and Willow are also theorized to be about the same person “Peter.” And live in the same world as I Hate it Here and The Lakes. It’s also widely believed that Folklore and Evermore are about a love that never was that she imagines and explores to escape the mundane day to day and decline of her relationship, Midnights questioning the relationship and this lost other love, (and TTPD is her setting her relationship ablaze and going for that love.) I believe Willow is about her manifesting that relationship.

Taylor has said she uses her music as like a coping mechanism, so her gripping the piano like a lifeline in Cardigan i think is very much a direct reflection of that. Love your insights on both vids! Can't wait for the Long Pond vid!
