Yes. Taylor started out in country music and those people are not fans they are haters. They are ignorant. Her and country were not on the outs. People in country music still are in a good relationship with each other. Other people are just haters who wants to spread hate to bring down Taylor. So don't listen them.

2024-08-19 17:56:46 +0000 UTCI will never understand the hate from country music fans towards Taylor. It’s pretty evident that her first love was country music, she credits most of that to her mom. But people tend to forget she was a teen when she started. Teens naturally gravitate towards country music so it really shouldn’t have been a surprise. Even look at country music that is played on the radio today it’s country x pop. The problem is everyone at the time gave Taylor so much crap and said her music sucked. She probably doesn’t feel a warm welcome in the country music scene anymore which makes me so sad 😞 love your videos NeeCee 🤎

2024-07-18 18:36:12 +0000 UTCalso the james slander is absolutely HILARIOUS… bc the difference in him saying “im only 17 i don’t know anything” and betty saying “i knew EVERYTHING when i was young” like there’s no excuse james youre a hoe! and taylor INSISTS that betty and james end up together in the future, like no girl betty deserves better! and so does augustine (what we call the girl in august) she just wanted someone to love her and he was never gonna love her, he knew he could go back to betty whenever he wanted it’s so sad

The song could be about her guilt or regret at leaving betty (country) for august (pop) and her visions for possibly returning. She showed up at their party (the ACMs) asking if they’ll still have her (hence the smirk you pointed out). I know Taylor named betty, cardigan, august as the ‘teenage love triangle’ but there is so much more story there than that. On the eras tour, she often says that the stories in folklore are her feelings and experiences set in the context of these stories (paraphrasing). And Jack also points this out in the long pond studio sessions explanation of ‘the last great american dynasty’; he says that the song perfectly encapsulates folklore because “it’s not about you, but it’s all about you”. So I really love to think about what else lies in the layers of these songs. Sorry for the long comment haha
