getting rid of daz studio

the background should be familar for you :) the character isnt... just used it for testing reasons but guess who will be in this place pretty soon? :D

just want to give an update, maybe interesting for some people :) i started with daz studio back in the days like most people do... its fun, its nice and a really good start to learn all those basics. but 3 years ago i started to do more and more stuff/props/morphs whatever on my own in blender and got better and better there. still using daz studio for posing and setting things up... but... i have to admit... meanwhile its more annoying and timeconsuming than i get out of it in the end.

what does that mean? materials/shaders from daz to blender -> no problem. reversed -> nightmare, not even possible. getting morphs for characters in daz studio? export to blender, set things up, import to daz again. annoying to set up things on my own made props/clothes/whatever (made in blender) again in daz studio instead of using it instant. btw. that also should improve my possibilities alot and you know i am always aiming for better quality :) and... same for animation... again.

octane plugin for daz is developed poor compared to others... octane for blender (released last year) is top notch compared to that.not to speak of huge loading times for single files (up to 5 minutes waiting for nothing)

the only thing that made daz studio useful are some pose&expression presets. but honestly... posing in blender is way more easy when you got used to it, same for expressions. still this will remain the only downside at the beginning

so i made a decision: daz studio will get kicked out of my list within this year. i simply dont have any use for it any longer... i guess there will be 2-3 more sets where it is used but then it will get burried :)

dont worry... hopefully i can keep up my production speed as you are used to it and everything should look same for you as i keep on using octane render and its very special looks :D

thats it... stay tuned! :)

posing isnt neccessary animation, thats correct. if you have set up your rigs properly both is easy with a bit of expierience :) learning animation since months here and there... but with those new bridge utilities it should make things alot easier now

Oh interesting im learning blender as well now, but let me ask, you only pose them there is no animations right? Blender might be easy enough for that

well daz isnt a mistake and really helps alot dont get that wrong. it just gets more and more annoying the deeper you dive into things after a few years :D but honestly... if i would have to restart again i would directly go for blender too :)

By looking at your struggles with DAZ I think I will skip this part and go directly for Blender work, who knows how it will go, but yeah found that translator too, i think I can experiment something in it too, but first i need to build quite a model in Inventor :/

tentacles are another perfect example :) those are completely done in blender and then imported to studio for rendering... no worries, they will return :D

Good to know, if you think this will work better. Sooo... More tentacle sets? :3
