This week's update!
Added 2020-02-09 20:13:12 +0000 UTCHello everybody! This week's got some fun stuff for you. But first--
Letters Page was all set to come out this week, and then we had the WORST WEEK EVER! From the lowest viewed Elseworlds Exchange to the lowest viewed Back Issues in over a month to the lowest viewed short info video (excluding Valiant), it was not our week. I'm trying really hard to just kind of ignore it, but I really didn't want Letters Page (a show with record low views normally, which is part of why it was on hiatus for so long) to get caught up in that. It might have been a fluke. It might have been YouTube being bullshit. Could have been that 99% of our subscribers who love most of the stuff we make were simply NOT interested in nearly everything we put out. But I'm inclined to think it was some kind of fuckery.
But I'm going to try to just ignore this week and move on. We have a strong Back Issues for this week (and because of BoP I'm totally rethinking the movie tie-in plan... again), we have a great Off the Rack planned, Joel returns to Elseworlds this week, and plenty more. So no matter what, at least you guys will watch it.
Interestingly enough, I had an expert friend check things out for us. And unlike 99% of youtube channels, the vast majority of our viewership are made up of subs. This means like, 10% or less of our views come from outside the sub base. This is both amazing and not so great at the same time. Sponsors, fellow creators, etc. desperately want this, but they also rely on growth from outside. For us, subscribers trickle in, and stay, and watch. Like I said, it's great, but not great for growth. Nothing we can do about it (unless there is). We genuinely have no idea, and nobody else has any thoughts.
So here's the schedule:
Off the Rack - Birds of Prey review plus this week's comics
Back Issues - Spider-Man Life Story
Elseworlds Exchange - probably a creator profile, not sure
GBU - Cameos in Thor (it'll make sense)
Marvel/DC Crossovers - how we can make it work
That last one is a video I've been trying to make for a long, long time. I love this idea, I'm a fan of this video, and I really need it to break out of the cycle of being just for subscribers. Unlike the Harley video which fucking died for no good reason, I need this thing to spread like crazy.
That's about it, folks! Working on more for you good folks, so stay tuned! Thank you all so much for being so supportive; it's just amazing.
Thank you!
Sal

I agree with this. The tie in episode might have under performed but so will the movie. It might be the worst situation to use as a test case for the future.

You can't really judge them on immediate reaction, particularly back issues. I feel like it's just a minor setback and you guys' will definitely bounce back from this!

2020-02-09 20:41:13 +0000 UTCHey Sal, In terms of the movie plan I mean no offense as I loved the episode. Kept me up late the night before work. Birds Of Prey has no hype. It’s probably the worst performing Superhero movie in a long time. The movie ties in aren’t inherently the issue. DC just really failed to make anyone care about Birds Of Prey. I’m sure if you did a Sam Wilson book before Cap and WS came it’d do well ! But I can’t remember the last time I saw as little about a movie as I did birds of prey. Don’t let it get you down! It’s an amazing episode! DC just can’t sell a movie
