This week
Added 2020-07-12 17:27:13 +0000 UTCHey gang! It's been awhile, I know. Sorry about that.
So here's the quickie update, then we can get into my headspace.
Off the Rack SHOULD be happening tomorrow. I fully expect it to happen. Sorry we missed last week, there was just honestly nothing we wanted to discuss on the show, and Tiff needed the day to work. Elseworlds Exchange will be happening, the only question is how many. We've got a topic on comic book journalism from Newsarama editor Chris Arrant, and of course the usual live stuff with me and Joel. No plans with Joel yet, but that doesn't mean we can't have something later in the week. It's up in the air though. Back Issues is on Aaron's first volume of the Avengers. I remember it being super harsh when we shot it, but when I edited it down, it doesn't seem quite so bad. That probably certifies that people are going to HATE it. I've also got some other fun stuff in the hopper that needs to be edited, but I wouldn't expect it this week.
We've been looking more heavily at the channel and the shows and the numbers, and it's frustrating to say that the very thing that makes us special and unique is almost certainly why we don't grow. Well, that and the fact that comic book industry has only so many bodies in it, and those bodies only want a certain type of content, by and large. You guys are the cross section who like comics in some way, but also enjoy youtube shows like ours. I was all set to double down on some variety and power through, but closer ananlytics suggest that's making Youtube NOT share our videos, and NOT get into recommended videos, and it's actively hurting us. Which, y'know. Is disheartening. I've also been under the misunderstanding that I'm entirely by myself in this. So I need to start leaning on my inner circle a little more to help me get through some of these things. The fact is, when I'm by myself I obsess over this kind of stuff. But when I'm in the group or I'm doing a live show with you guys, I'm just having fun and enjoying myself so much, I couldn't care less about the numbers. And ironically, sometimes that makes things perform better anyway. So I wanted you to know there has been a slowdown of production, but we're coming up with strategies that will help allow us to keep making new stuff, inventing and innovating, and taking some of the pressure off.
So thanks for being here, you guys. I'm lucky to have this killer gig with such an awesome audience like you.
Talk soon,
Sal

there's certainly some truth in the cross section with me. I don't watch any of the other comic youtubers anymore, not even rob and i love rob though i still watch when i want to learn about a character instead of reading the wiki. If not for your style i probably wouldn't have gotten back into actively buying comics like i do now. But there's so much content and with other interests i had to cut most all comic stuff except for you. I've always said you are kinda the RLM of the comic sphere and I love ya for it. hope you find ways to beat the algorithm, you're criminally undersubscribed
