Thinking about a virtual ComicPop Con

Weigh in here! https://strawpoll.com/hqwvhdpf5

Yeah, I know what you're thinking. But hear me out-- this would be a little more different, a little more manageable. Here's the pitch:

Seven shows. Seven days.

Just a week of live programming, themed to a "ComicPop Con," but one show per day, and a mix of familiar and VERY different.

It's just in the hypothetical for now, but I'd like to know what you think. One show per day for a week? Or just one full day of programming? Also what kinds of stuff would YOU show up for? (And DON'T say creator interviews... haha)

There are some fascinating unproduced scripts out there (like the Tom Mankowitz Batman), and even alternate ones for existing films. Awesome idea!

One show a day is best I think but you could make one or two of the shows a compilation of shorts. A live Back Issues would be great. It would be nice to have a live Hack and Slash for old times. Tiffany’s ComicPop kitchen would be a cool short segment. Story time with someone reading a comic out loud and describing it fireside with a robe and pipe would be cool. A comic quiz game show where Sal and Tiffany are the hosts and Ben and Ethan are the contestants. Show us how much they’ve learned over the years.

I love the daily schedule idea, and think it would give people time to jump in if they miss a day. As far as what to cover, I'd say anything that would make for a fun discussion, or that you guys are passionate about. If you want my more selfish wish, I'd love to see you cover some wacky nineties comics or their trends (which fascinate me), like Liefeld, Wildcats, Malibu Comics, the "hot chick" Witchblade subgenre, etc. Though that may not appeal to others I do think some real humor could be mined there. Otherwise, perhaps you could have a conversation/debate about bigger pet peeves or industry problems. I think continuity and its implementation, what the young reader graphic novel boom can teach us, and comics accessibility are rich topics.

A whole Friday or Saturday with the ComicPOP crew would just about make my whole week.

Stop drilling. You hit oil. I'm already in.

Just Some Guy with a Mustache

I'm so hyped for this. I literally have your shows in the background when I'm doing most of my day to day so to have a comic pop con would be a dream come true

One show per day good idea. Easier to promote and build up interest/excitement throughout the entire Con.

Looks like a VAST majority of you guys like the one show per day format idea. I'm happy I'm onto something! As for panels, I think we'd have to do at least one live Back Issues. I'd love to do a Harbor Patrol one-shot. Maybe a table read from an excerpt of an unproduced comic book movie script...

ComicPop

We're never going to do that. Sorry, man.

I would l Iike a one a day format too sounds fun!

Frank Marazzo

A live back issues with a touch of interaction!

Luke Brady

I would love to see a one show a day program. Live back issues would be awesome or live good, bad and ugly's. Tbh I would probably watch everything in those seven days, haha

Schnabeltierkrieger

That sounds great! I think one show per day would be more manageable for both creators and audience. And will probably prevent too much burnout for you guys. A new Harbor Patrol campaign could be fun, and a GBU related show where you guys work together to figure out how a writer or artist could have made the book better (I’m sure there’s a GBU acronym about brainstorming in there somewhere.) A new Elseworlds with Joel would be great, too!

Matt

Agreed!

Danny Ollie

Can never go wrong with an extra helping of the goblin, the bad and the undead lol

Danny Ollie

One show per day would be better.

Milambus

What about a ethan or ben lead back issues???

Memento Mori

Harbor patrol one shot would be cool

Memento Mori

YES GIMME NOW!
