I really dig it and I appreciate the team trying new things/revisiting some old stuff. I enjoy the discussion because it’s talking about things that revolve around comics but still matter. I especially like it when Sal and the gang talk insider stuff. I could see this perfectly as a podcast as I’m driving to work or going on a run.

Your statement of wanting less people in the video to focus the conversation reminded me of the sentiment of a sports fan preferring a two man booth to a three man both when calling a game, and is one I agree with. I did find the the camera that focused on Ben being in black and white jarring. I think 30 min is a good max time for these somewhat free form conversations. Pertinent to this conversation, I do think this conversation could have benefited by having some opinions from comic book owners regarding members benefits before hand, either on the record or off the record. I know you don’t think of nor market yourself as a journalist, but this conversation would have benefited from that. Hopefully you bring back this show to be semi regular!

To build on that idea and your use of two cameras - I like the second camera but maybe not straight on a single person? When Ben was focused at moments I could see hand gestures and it almost made me want a third camera for Sal when he would go on longer tangents. An idea would be using the second camera to show both hosts but just set up to show chairs on different edges of the screen. Almost like how a late night show is set up to focus on one speaker while showing the others reactions in frame. Would save time and editing too.

I think it would be cool if you could have a second segment where you occasionally pitch some of these ideas to someone in the relevant field and hear their feedback. I feel the same way about a lot of the ideas you and Joel come up with on Elseworlds. In this case say a comic shop owner? Though I could see how that would be much harder to schedule. Thanks for the work you put in! Great watch!

2021-01-20 23:04:56 +0000 UTCI suppose I'm not the target market for a Point-Counterpoint kinda of conversation show, but if I were to make a suggestion, if you were strong on the 30min~ time frame, then maybe like 3 topics, and they could be related, and having like a 10min time box on each topic. Maybe I just missed the flow of the show, so I'll have to give it another try then.
