Yet Another Clone Saga on Back Issues!

Yet Another Clone Saga on Back Issues!

Comments

Thank you guys for another terrifically fun episode! Based solely on the Back Issues coverage of The Clone Saga and Clone Conspiracy, this is easily my favorite iteration of the clone/Ben Reilly idea. Now, it may be an inherently gimmicky, bankrupt idea, but I think this is the best execution of it. I haven't read Spider-Man Life Story YET, so it's possible that a much better take lies within that work. What confuses me, is the entire motivating factor for the whole thing, back in the 90s: that Peter was married, and not young. This has also been the line from other comics editors, like those who don't like Nightwing or Robin, because he "ages up" Batman. Why are editors so obsessed with this? Wouldn't Legion Of Superheroes and Teen Titans be top selling books if this mattered? I'll put Watchmen, Dark Knight Returns, and Kingdom Come sales up against those - and ALL of those books feature adult, or older protagonists. Also, at THIS SAME TIME in the 90s, I seem to recall Wolverine being PRETTY popular, and he's over 80. While there are some NEW attempts to reach young readers with comics catered toward them, like DC Ink, these are retailer focused, full reinventions, and this youth obsession predates them. Editors be weird...
