This week's update!

Hey folks! Sorry for the late update!

So GBU dropped today! Love how this episode came out, and it got me really excited about the future of the show. Then I kinda talked to a few members of the audience about it, and I'm getting the impression most of you don't really like it. This kind of blows my mind and fucks me up a little, so we're going to have an internal meeting pretty soon and see if we should just kill the show. I really love how it works, and it takes a lot of work to make, but if people aren't gonna watch it, there's virtually no point in keeping it going. Of course, if I approach the whole channel like that, I don't think it would be the channel you come to enjoy.

Off the Rack was filmed today and will be available tomorrow! I've gotta make that into a podcast (which you can find on iTunes and comicpop.podbean.com under the Elseworlds banner), so I can't forget to take care of that today.

I'm feverishly trying to get all the Back Issues episodes we've got coordinated for releases ready to go. For some reason it's taken a ton of time to cut and export the latest ones, and I'm trying to get to the bottom of why. For whatever reason, even shorter episodes are taking full days to cut and export. But we're surprisingly on track, believe it or not! Despite the drag, our Into the Spider-Verse tie-in and Aquaman tie-in are finished, uploaded, and ready for release. Once the Christmas episode is done, we'll be all finished and back on for regular episodes. Honestly, though, we'd have done 2/3 of these books regardless. That Aquaman one, though... Nah, probably not.

Gotta coordinate with Joel on a new Elseworlds. I'm really digging the revisits to old topics; they're really working well. I think we've got a whole roster of topics for at least the next month or so! Hope you're digging it!

Oh! Got a fun Tangent for y'all coming up from our Aquaman episode, actually. I think our Spider-Men (that's this week's Back Issues) Tangent is there already. If not, it will be by the time you see this! So those are going up. And you may have noticed the new bumpers for Back Issues are just Tangent excerpts. If not, you should stay till the end of the show! I think that's how I'm going to do all of them from now on. At least, as long as there's a Tangent to use. Honestly, the reason you haven't seen much from Tangents recently is because there just wasn't anything worthwhile from them. But I'm happy to say (despite the pain it is to edit), the shoots are longer and there's much more going on that gets cut but still winds up entertaining! So Tangents is alive... For now!

That's about it from me. You'll be getting a little Patreon-exclusive holiday video in the coming weeks, and a little fun ComicPOP X-Mas card. Keep an eye out!

Talk soon, gang! Thanks for all the love and support on the anniversary with me and Tiff. It was so incredible and overwhelming. And as always, thank you for keeping the channel alive! You're all just awesome.

Love ya!

I really love GBU, admittedly didn't get as into it at first but now rates up there with back issues. maybe give it a little more time, after all, even back issues and the channel had to crawl before walking and such.

I love GBU, I really hope it does not hold away, it is one of my favorite things you guys do and is so crazy and funny

Patches

I can only speak for myself but I love the GBU and would be sad to see it go.

The Forgotten Kami

With some progressive refinement and a sense of building up the mythos and stakes of GBU, I feel that it will have a greater impact. Possibly create an incentive for viewers to come back to an increased payoff, such as a bracket tournament system for the best, worst, or ugliest (Small prizes for winners?). Maybe categorize the issues in a way that we can revisit them, or knock them down to create juicier critical banter. I think the show overall is a viable and entertaining concept, so please don't entirely give up on it. Tweak it a little and maybe it will hit better with the youtube community. I really do enjoy the show, these are just some spitball ideas, but generally adding stakes keeps people invested in a competitive type show.

I agree, I would hate to see you guys drop the show, but I understand if the time commitment isn’t proving profitable. Sidenote: I loved today episode, congrats on increasing the size of the wrong box

Matt
