This week's update!
Added 2019-02-04 18:27:50 +0000 UTCHello everybody! By now you have seen the new episode of the brand new show Bat Issues! We tried out the premiere function on YouTube for the first time, and I have to say I had a lot of concerns about it in the beginning (will it be monetize, will the views count?) and overall I have to say it was an overwhelming success. We had about the same number of people watching the new episode as we did watching the live show just a few weeks ago. It was a wholly unique experience watching so many of you guys watching the show live as it was being released, and I have to say I'll probably do it again in the future! there been a couple of questions about it, so I thought I'd answer one or two of them here and then you guys can disseminate it if you need to.
Right now, bat issues is going to be every two weeks and we'll come out in addition to Back Issues. If the views dip on one or both of the shows, we're probably going to have to kill it. as many of you know, back issues is not a podcast for the sole reason that people would never watch the show if they could listen to it. And so much of our revenue comes from ads on YouTube (with the huge a notable exception being this amazing Patreon), and we would honestly make $0 out of an audio podcast. If I find that these shows are cannibalizing each other, I have to crush it. But for now, it's tracking ok.
So, what is happening for this week? Well, Tiffany and I will be doing a live Off the Rack today probably around 5, 5:30. We will do reviews and recommendations for books that are coming out this week that we think you should pick up. That will be available live, and then we will release it to people who didn't catch it live on Tuesday.
I'm thrilled to say that I recorded an episode of Elseworlds Exchange with The Bard this weekend and we had an incredible conversation that lasted about two hours. We'll probably lose maybe a few minutes but nothing too essential. We had a great time, and we will definitely be doing it again in the future. If I have my druthers and get that finished tomorrow, it will be out on Wednesday. If not, there will be a live episode with me and Joel.
And of course, as you know, the Venom and Punisher episode of Back Issues will be released that evening. in thinking about this, I'm actually on the fence about whether I should just release this new episode of Back Issues on Wednesday during the day, and then release The Bard episode on Thursday. That should be fine. What do you think?
Sorry about the delay in letters page episodes, editing multiple back issues in a week takes a lot of time. I also have a Ms Marvel episode of The Good The Bad and The Ugly, those Letters Page episodes, and the new bat issues we filmed this past Thursday. I'm pretty excited, because it's a Robin episode, so I brought back the cast who did the first Robin episode we did.
I also recorded a new show idea that is more informative than usual. If it ever goes out, think of it as a small handbook companion show to Back Issues. But I'm not even done shooting that, so I wouldn't get too excited about it yet.
As always, I want to thank everyone here for helping us maintain this channel and everything we do here. It is such a joy to wake up every morning excited to create and provide something that hopefully all of you really enjoy. This patreon gives me the problem of having to come up with great creative uses for an unbelievable amount of space. Thank each and everyone of you for this.
Talk to you soon!

All that new content sounds great. The more back issues the better in my opinion. New content idea if your ever looking for it. I think something like a top 5 comics of the month would be amazing from you Sal. So many people do best of the year and to be honest those lists/ podcasts I find not as good in practice because they are often referencing a comic I haven’t read in 6 months and don’t remember it clearly, so my personal opinions are either muted or non existent cuz it’s a book I never picked up. A monthly best of would feel fresh and be more likely to have an active viewer engagement. I love ur opinions regarding whether an issue was good or not but sometimes I think you are more vocal on what you do not like that is current ( example King’s Batman and Bendis Superman) and it’s not as clear what you really like at the moment. Maybe that’s cuz you like exploring older comics often and its hard sometimes to differentiate between new and new to you ( I know it can be for me) Anyway I would love that idea but I generally watch anything you post as is.
