MASSIVE update!
Added 2019-07-15 06:07:50 +0000 UTCHey everybody! We had an insane shooting day this past week. An ELEVEN HOUR day! Why? I'll get to that.
First, we've got Bat Issues from Sunday, Off the Rack later on today, Immortal Hulk on Back Issues, Elseworlds returns as usual, and of course the Wednesday and Sunday Twitch streams. This week we're also shooting Back Issues, Bat Issues and the Good, Bad and Ugly! I'm so glad to have this show come back. It's gonna be fun, too-- DC Zero Issues! I'm also going to see if I can shoehorn in another show, but that'll probably have to wait. We also need to film Letters Page and cut the old episodes still waiting.
Today I've also got to rearrange the Back Issues set because we needed to completely take it apart for our massive shoot on Friday. Here's what happened:
We've been planning on bringing our RPG comic book team The Harbor Patrol to the channel for the past three years. In that time, we had four different guests, two DMs, multiple locations, and even an animation budget. All of it fell through or apart at some point in those three years, and this summer we put our foot down and said ENOUGH. It's happening on THIS DATE. No excuses. July 5.
So we missed that date. Completely. So we said July 12, I don't care who shows up. I was reserving camera equipment today. And I did. And so on the morning of 7/12, we went to the camera rental place, grabbed our equipment, went to the studio, rebuilt a new set, ordered sandwiches, met with our guest player, and at 2 pm we began filming. Wrapped up at about 10:45 pm and it was done. First campaign of Harbor Patrol is in the can!
I just finished cutting episode one. It's set in the DC Universe, it uses the long defunct DC Adventures RPG books (which is based entirely off Mutants and Masterminds), and features the misadventure of failed sorcerer Tom Billingsgate, alien linguist Satellite and a Facebook addicted spaceman called The Clod. They battle three DC villains and nearly an entire town in the sleepy shore area of Stone Crab Harbor, NJ. When I'm about halfway done cutting Part 2, we'll officially release the first episode with a countdown and live commentary from myself, Tiff and Ben in the chat. And if enough of you like it, The Harbor Patrol will return with an all new adventure.
This is the show I've been teasing for years. And before July ends, we'll find out if it was worth the wait.
Thank you all so much. Seriously-- the Patreon actually helped pay for the four (YES, 4!) cameras we rented for this experiment. If the show gets popular, we'll see if it makes sense to get permanent cameras, keep renting, or just do it live. It's entirely dependent on you.
So thank you, try to keep this a secret, and I'll be in touch!
Talk soon,
Sal
