Chapter 49 - The Drone Chase

The drone chase in the movies is showcasing kind of what I envision for the drones in the future of the story. The issue is that using weapons like these will be a serious escalation in warfare and will invite copying/countermeasures. It might be a situation where I can only safely use weapons like these where there will be no survivors or sensor records afterward. Thoughts?

Even if they can't make something that is relatively cheap for mass production at first they may go into limited production to defend core territory.

Yes...very true. They already have an edge with their easily replaceable/grown jem'hadar, an advantage their enemies like the Federation and the Klingons would not copy, no matter how good an idea it might be. You have to wonder if Section 31 doens't already have some Doomsday type black project where they have an easy reproducible clone soldier ready to copy and print by the millions. They're definitely the type to have something like that on hand.

Great points. The Romulans and the Cardassians, as the underdogs of the alpha quadrant, would be much more willing to copy a force multiplier like this that they could reproduce semi-cheaply.

Those drones are going to be prefect for hunting down walkers. On the other hand it might inspire the Dominion and other forces. It's pretty clear that in the ST universe they haven't invested in their ground forces in awhile, with maybe the exception of the Cardassians. The last thing Gothic is going to want is the Dominion copying it. He is going to try to stay out of the war, assuming there is still a war, to protect Bajor's neutrality. Gothic won't want the Dominion to spring a surprise like that on Federation forces.

Yea I have to agree these drones are something they either have to be used somewhere, that there is no trace left of them or a break the glass glass type situation, however depending on who sees them first it will probably vary on how long till they begin making their own, like the Klingons wouldn't till the literally last moment, Starfleet I feel would drag their feet for awhile, my main concerns are the Romulans and the Cardassians as both states have had experience using remote controlled or self targeting missiles aka Dreadnought.
