What AREN'T we doing?
Added 2022-05-26 02:24:48 +0000 UTCWe make a lot of stuff. Or at least, we used to. Now we do the two live podcasts, occasionally GBU, and Back Issues.
But looking at our peers, there's a lot of stuff we just DON'T do:
-Info dumps
-Video essays
-Single issue reviews
-Full story breakdowns
-Themed podcasts
-Movie discussions
I'm sure there's more, but honestly-- I'd rather be making the content YOU want vs the content that I THINK you want. When you're in my position and you see the projections, and you take ten years to hit 100k... It makes you think maybe we're the ones doing something wrong.
So I'd love to know what you'd like to see from us. I'm on a few new shows/podcasts that I don't own or really benefit from at all, and I'd rather re-focus on our own creations and projects. If I'm doing something elsewhere you'd rather see me and my team do, please let me know.
That's all. Thanks everybody.

I'm so sad Harbor Patrol did so badly, because I LOVED the hell out of it.

2022-05-26 19:21:59 +0000 UTCI genuinely enjoy you on the Comicstorian Podcast Network, from Absolute Comics to WHAT. It lets me as a viewer see a side of you that isn't comics-related OR tangentially related (such as the content with DJ Woolridge). Would integrating the ComicPoppa TikTok content as shorts on the channel be something to consider? Turning the usually comic-related show into a movie review/ discussion show when a movie happens is great for me ! Let me make it clear, that I wouldn't want fully dedicated movie/TV content from you, however the promotion of the auxiliary content - Absolute Comics, WHAT, The Spidey series with DJ, and even the in-house TikTok content, would be very helpful... There's a reason that Youtuber people were told to literally say " Don't forget to Like and Subscribe"

2022-05-26 16:10:51 +0000 UTCFull story breakdowns could be cool. Maybe characters histories. All the changes made over the years and maybe guesses (or answers) on why those changes happened. Whatever you guys do keep up the good work! :)

2022-05-26 15:59:14 +0000 UTCI say all of this on the pretense that I don't want you to burn yourselves out. I don't know if this will work, but I've noticed that a lot of anime channels (AniTubers) that shifted over from doing anime reviews to video essays about tropes, character design, the industry, what makes a good main character, etc. usually saw a bump in their viewership. Some AniTubers are exclusively video essays, and it's a mixed bag of either they're doing pretty well or just okay. Unfortunately, I've noticed their video essays take a long time to make, and they have months between each one. Not an AniTuber, but I remember Nerdsync was doing really well, but now he doesn't show up as much in my recommended. I've noticed that essays that talk about broader things or why something works/doesn't work tend to do well. At the end of the day, it just seems like more work all for a gamble, but this is just what I've seen. Hope it helps.

2022-05-26 15:35:32 +0000 UTCI watch everything you guys do, and from experience the only thing that I have actively looked for that I haven’t seen video’s one are videos/breakdowns/reviews of the stories of the more popular Comic book based video games. I don’t know if that’s something you’re willing to do but if Spiderman 2 and Wolverine are actually launching next year it could bring some new people in.

2022-05-26 13:03:07 +0000 UTCI have no idea if this would work, but a show focused on adaptations of canonical characters. However, the twist would be that the show puts the adaptations in conversations with each other instead of straightforward comparisons with the source material. For instance, you could compare the Playstation Spiderman with a Film Spiderman. Do the adaptations have commonalities? Is there evidence of multimedia influence? Where do the adaptations get weird with it? Also, if you do it with Batman you can call the episode "Bat-adaptations."

2022-05-26 11:08:05 +0000 UTCI would really enjoy more movie reviews/podcasts (like non superhero stuff), I know Sal mentioned being a cinephile when he was younger and I really like it when you guys cover movies on off the rack. I think longform video essays about comics would be awesome as well, I find Sal's opinionated takes on comic book characters and history fascinating as someone who doesn't read comics. That being said, I can understand how the editing for that stuff can be very time consuming.

2022-05-26 04:45:14 +0000 UTCI love everything y'all do. I know I'm in the minority when it comes to this but I love and miss some video of game content like BONUS ROUNDS and Panels to Pixels I know tiff does twitch streaming but I'd like some video game content sorry I really don't have much more of an idea than that ......as I said I love the content and keep it coming 🥰

2022-05-26 03:39:17 +0000 UTCBasically repeating what some others have said but some movie or show discussions with the whole gang would be fun to see. Hearing yours and Tiff's thoughts on the big movies on OTR is fun but it would be interesting to hear Ethan and Ben's takes as well. Obviously you can't get them in the studio as frequently but any bit that could be done would be fun to watch. I'd also say do more ComicLine if possible. Hearing your takes on current comic-type news events is always intriguing to see.

2022-05-26 03:13:41 +0000 UTCYeah I second this. Getting a deep dive on a character's history or just more history of the industry would be really interesting to see. The back issues on Spawn and the Maxx were really engaging for this reason.

2022-05-26 03:09:47 +0000 UTCI like the history stuff that comes along with episodes like Onslaught (v3). I’d love a show or more in depth dives on the history of books, eras, or whatever. The perspective you bring is really interesting.

2022-05-26 02:57:54 +0000 UTCInspired by your Spiderman article in CBR, I think it would be a cool concept to do a video that acknowledged how much a character changes overtime, for example, “ If your favorite character was Dan slots Spiderman man, you actually would like to read 2000s Iron man comics rather than more Spiderman “

2022-05-26 02:55:52 +0000 UTCWish I could say do this, that, or the other thing. I think your channel is great fun. Thank you for what you do and I will continue to support you as long as you make content.

2022-05-26 02:41:05 +0000 UTCI think seeing some really deep video essays would be amazing. History on books that isn’t covered on back issues in detail. Insight into the industry. Back Issues is amazing. It’s hilarious. But Sal you know a ton and are very good at explaining information. So the parts where you just dive into history are super insightful. Topics like how the death of Superman happened could be really cool! As for other stuff. I just think you already have reviews down! Off The Rack is great. I’m no YouTube expert. If I was I’d have over 1K after five years lol. But I wonder if more clickbaity titles would help. I do adore the podcasts. I watch pretty much everything your on. I think it boils down to part of what people love about this channel is how well educated you come off as. If you ask me. Most creators get in front of the camera and just say things are bad and don’t really dig into it. You do. You clearly understand story structure. You articulate yourself super well. So I think you just do that. Teach people what you know about comics in video form. Plenty of people especially younger readers find it interesting to learn about the industry and it’s history. Sorry this end up so long. Hope everyone is feeling better. Rewatching the new back issues tonight!

2022-05-26 02:37:21 +0000 UTCNot sure how good you would feel about this idea but if maybe for one episode a month or quarterly if the patrons got to vote for a back issue? Or maybe like a patreon exclusive back issue?

2022-05-26 02:36:26 +0000 UTCI don’t think you guys are doing anything wrong. But from the list you provided: I’d enjoy more movie talk stuff. Especially about movies you enjoy. Beyond that I’m a fan of RLM, and I think there is a decent amount of crossover viewership. I really enjoyed your past Christmas/Holiday specials that were scripted. I also like the idea of a tt rpg podcast or video series, even if it was just one shots. I liked your past show, but I’d be more interested in seeing the entire ComicPop crew rolling dice, if that was something everyone was into. Thanks for the excellent years of content!

2022-05-26 02:31:36 +0000 UTCI love when you would do the videos where you recommend the best comics to read to get into or understand the character. But I wish there was a way you could include the whole crew because you 4 together is what makes comicpop my favorite channel.

2022-05-26 02:31:33 +0000 UTCI feel like a show where you guys review a movie after seeing it recently or even immediately after would be fun since you guys have an amazing chemistry and could talk about literally anything.

2022-05-26 02:28:07 +0000 UTCI really like the industry discussion type episodes. Like the video where you guys talked about substack. I feel those videos of informative, while also keeping us engaged due to your guys' personalities
