Little update

Hey folks! We had a pretty productive day, so I figured I'd talk about it with you guys since you're for all intents and purposes our producers. Thanks to JLA/Predator falling on the sword this week, we were able to take last week's episode and make it next week's. This freed up an already longer day for the guys tonight, and allowed me to scratch an itch I've had for months without worrying about Back Issues.

As you almost certainly know, I've been working on Absolute Comics as well as DJ Wooldridge's Only Stupid Answers brands for over a year. For those brands, I've produced the Absolute Comics series, Nope, Batwatch, Spiderversity, plus trailer and series reactions/discussions. Their channels have quickly begun to resemble ComicPop and what we've accomplished over the past 8+ years, and I'm happy for them. In the meantime, I'm also still producing Back Issues, GBU, Off the Rack, Elseworlds Exchange, and using those outlets to make Shorts and podcast versions of the last two series. And once in awhile we also still get an interview or two out there.

Oh yeah, and I'm doing monthly articles for CBR. But those are a very different sort of content.

ComicPop Returns turned a year old last month. A year ago, I was looking at our bottom line and how YouTube was changing and I decided to make this split to focus on what we make and let everything find its audience. Also with it taking place entirely after the lockdown, it gave us a pretty fresh look at how our videos are performing without an artificial inflation. And I'm convinced it was the right thing to do.

So when I tell you that I look at what we're doing and I feel like I'm not doing enough, you understand where I'm coming from. I'm glad I'm helping these other places. And they're paying me for my time, so it's worth it in many respects. But when I look at my team and we chat off the record about this or that, I know we made the kind of stuff I want to watch/listen to. And we've done it for years. But over the last year, I've been stretched thin. And I want to innovate and push it, but there's just no time at the end of the day. So I need to be more assertive in what I want this brand to be/look like, and why it's something you guys consider to be special. And don't get me wrong-- I've got a lot of ideas, just not enough time or useable schedules to execute them all.

So today we shot 3 videos, which is two more than we have in months; Letters Page, GBU, and a Let's Talk episode. Felt really good, in all honesty. The team seemed pretty happy to do it, too. And I have two more Let's Talk video topics ready to execute, plus at least 2-3 completely new show ideas.

So there we are right now. If you have any thoughts or ideas, as always, please let me know!

Thanks for listening,
Sal

Glad you keep making content and always look forward to next post. With your love of TMNT, how about a GBU featuring other anthropomorphic comics? Black belt Hamsters, Usagi Ujimbo, Boris the Bear, or some other titles you can think of.
