Chapter 58 - Inspiration for Micro Drone Identification

My version was significantly less intrusive...and obvious...but I was inspired by this scene. I really quite liked how smart these things were portrayed. They engaged in collaborative problem solving to accomplish their goals.

Perhaps there was a way to more actively search. A scene from the movie Minority Report flashed through my mind, remembering little robotic spiders forcefully checking identities through retinal scans in a rundown apartment building while trying to find Tom Cruise’s character. Unfortunately, that method wasn’t a good idea for many good reasons, including the operative committing suicide the moment they realized that they had been discovered and were at risk of capture, but the idea was sound in principle. I could do it better with 24th century technology.

“Replicate and deploy a few hundred cloaked, aerial microdrones capable of scanning DNA with no visible signs of it, no onboard weapons,” I ordered. “Use the passive scans from the defense net to scan every living person in the grid area. If they’re still there, we’ll find them eventually. Start immediately.”

I don't care what anyone says Neal McDonough is one of the best if not thee best villain actors in Hollywood. The dudes played everything from a gangster to a supervillain. He's an absolute Legend.
