Chapter 53 - Real US Military Officers Wearing Medals
Added 2024-08-12 12:00:13 +0000 UTCIn writing chapter 53 I tried to look up actual military officers wearing their medals during official ceremonies. The hope was to paint the picture accurately. Did I succeed? Any former military patrons need to set me straight? :-)

To true. We know that Starfleet has medals they just don't wear them. We know that Data keeps his in a display case. There also might have been some awarded offscreen in DS9 because when the series started Dax was a Lt. (j.g.) who had little to no combat experience but later in the series when Sisko mentions they're all getting medals she says she'll add them to her collection.

2024-08-24 17:05:10 +0000 UTCAgreed, though while that is true that the 24 century Starfleet is a blank slate I belive in the 23rd it may have been a bit different as in the tos episode court martial several officers including Kirk, Spock and MaCoy are wearing their dress uniforms and on right brest of their uniform they seem to have what I believe are awards/commendations and I believe it comes up in a few other episodes where they are wearing they dress uniforms.
