Monthly Matters

I had a long conversation with Laverna Ellis last week. She's been in the Patreon community for many months and even had her super work featured at DEMO Festival, where I met her in person. I asked her what she thought I could do better. And that's when she pulled an idea out of the bag that immediately got me excited: What if there were some kind of creative briefing at regular intervals that community members could work on. There was this #genuary initiative in january that I thought was super good, but I had two points of criticism about it:

• There were way too many prompts in my view.
• The prompts were not abstract enough, but way too close to the Generative Art theme, so there was no creative transfer to come up with an inventive idea.

And so, together with Laverna, I came up with the thought of implementing a very simple feature on my website, which I call Monthly Matters (many thanks to Lena Weber for the notion of this name).

There is now a banner on the home page that changes automatically every month. There the Monthly Matter is announced, an abstract topic that can be worked on this month. On Discord you will find a channel where you can show your work and share about it.

I'm also thinking of offering meetups on the Monthly Matters in.the.future. But this month I'm still too busy with a teaching job here at Elisava in Barcelona. I'll think about it more later.

Teaching at Elisava

In March I will be teaching Creative Coding to one of Spain's most renowned design schools on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I am totally looking forward to it.

Creative Coding Barcelona (Session 2)

The last Creative Coding Barcelona event was great! There were 35 people in total and we had a great evening. Now we are already planning the second edition, on March 17, so in about 2 weeks, with a super exciting line-up.
