Hey there, ✌️
I hope you are well! Here the summer has fully arrived and enjoy the last weeks in Paderborn. Already at the beginning/mid of August I will leave for Barcelona and move my center of life to this beautiful city. The preparations are in full swing and I'm in the process of becoming a hardcore minimalist. It feels great to get rid of old stuff.
A lot has happened this week:
New work for the New York Times 🗽
A second time I had the honor to develop a visual for the New York Times. It's an illustration for an essay by investigative journalist Julia Angwin. I've published a case study about the project on my website.
Bauhaus Livestream 🎞
On Thursday I streamed the announced Bauhaus Challenge on Youtube. It was great fun, especially because some of you were live in the chat. Thanks again for that! I will share the recording of the stream here on Patreon soon. I'm currently thinking about repeating such livestreams in a certain rhythm. What do you think about that?
Lost in Gradation 🆘
I've been trying to make progress on the Gradation course for the last few days, however I'm currently having a mathematical problem that I can't get solved. Maybe you can help me? In the video I explain where it hangs. Also i attached the code to this post. You can see the interim state of the course here:
Digital Gardening 🌿
The last weeks I launched a small side-project, inspired by the idea of digital gardening. It was brought to my attention by Alex Muñuz, who has been part of this Patreon community for a long time and with whom I became friends in Barcelona. A Digital Garden is a website where authors publish text fragments, small sketches and ideas. Similar to a blog, but much more unstructured. More like a box of notes. The ideas grow over time, new ones are constantly added, and if all goes well, they become full essays. That's the goal of digital gardening. I found the idea so wonderful that I directly built such a digital garden for myself. The texts are all in German. I will translate some of the articles into English and publish them on timrodenbroeker.de, if the topic suits.
Demystify Technology ✊
The first finished text in my Digital Garden is called "Demystify Technology" and is basically the story of my interpretation of Creative Coding and the focus in my work.
As always: Every comment makes me happy, so please, do not be afraid to leave a little feedback!
Greetings and see you next week! ☀️
