The headset mics were of convenience But now adays noone uses them unless they really want/need to, with all their hair going longer, 3racha (jisung, chan, binnie) have always used hand mics expet in the very beginning

Mostly preference, I know Felix was the last to switch mostly because he is a dancer and wanted hands free to emphasize the choreography.... When they do full on choreography during album drops you will still see the headsets ... Most hate it and you can tell they would prefer hand mics
