Yeah, I definitely put lots of hints along the way. I don't like things like that to come as a total surprise. I just find it's more believable if there's at least a little set up to it. As for why Josh and his brothers blame him for their father's death... Well it wouldn't be one of my stories if I just told you everything up front. Answers will come. I'm glad you appreciated the chapter, even if it was a tough read. Matt

2021-10-01 22:03:39 +0000 UTCThanks for the feedback. Yeah, Josh certainly hasn't had an easy life, but he's in a good place now ๐ As a writer, getting that level of emotion from a reader is quite an achievement. But no more tragedy now... at least not for a few more chapters lol. As for your punishment, I probably shouldn't go into details in public comments... ๐ Matt

2021-10-01 22:00:28 +0000 UTCThis chapter was moving. Your hints about the relation between Josh and his brothers were good. I had thought that his brothers were the reason for his problems. But it was even much worse than I feared. Your warning about suicide alarmed me. I am so glad that Danny was successful in stopping Josh from jumping. And of course, I hope for a severe and humiliating punishment for Josh's brothers. Will you tell us, why Josh considers himself guilty for the death of his father? In my opinion, nobody should skip chapter 27. It is important for understanding Josh, what he did and why he did it.

2021-10-01 21:52:25 +0000 UTCNow Iโm really slipping! Two chapters in a row I didnโt read right away. Iโll take my punishment nowโฆhehe. This chapterโฆI donโt even have any words. I was correct in my assumption that it was Josh up there. I knew something was going on with his brothers, but to the extent that it wasโฆthat poor boy. I was actually crying pretty much the entire chapter. I honestly donโt have much to say, but Iโm glad you didnโt cut it or tone it down or anything. It was just super hard to read. Canโt wait for the next chapter! โบ๏ธ

2021-10-01 21:37:13 +0000 UTCThanks for the suggestion. Most of what happens is summarised in the narrative of chapter 28 as I wrote it after cutting chapter 27. I left it in after I put this chapter back in, just in case of anyone skipping it. On nifty.org I actually include a note at the start saying it can be skipped.

2021-10-01 18:16:31 +0000 UTCYes, that was my worry. I very nearly cut this chapter for that very reason. Don't worry, things get brighter from here. While there will obviously be emotional repercussions that will stay with them, it's much more fun from here. This was just the conclusion of a storyline that I had to include. Thanks for sticking with it and giving honest feedback. I may post chapter 28 early, just to move things past sooner!

2021-10-01 17:13:06 +0000 UTComg that was so dark ๐ข๐ข I kinda figured who would be up on the roof, but I never expected something like that.... Really hope the story will take a brighter turn in the future because this was painful to read. I had to skip a few lines to be honest....
