The Kingswood Amelioration - Chapter 27

Comments

Yeah, that's a lovely scene. I love being able to show how the characters really affect each other. It really shows how all of the support really does go both ways. And interesting comment on KFC, I thought it was still thriving as a Christmas staple. To be fair, I only fdound out about it quite recently myself - I actually thought it was just someone making up stupid facts until I actually looked into it. I continue to love learning the intricacies of other cultures.

The Chris/Levi/Blane thing is challenging as it's a situation where people are reacting to something that hasn't even happened (or is not even guaranteed to be happening) yet. It's my way of venting frustration at kneejerk over-reactions. Danny is definitely very frustrating as he is so wonderful at helping others yet so utterly dreadful at helping himself. I'm sure it'll all work out in the end though... Rob/Mikey... no comment, although I will say I continue to love writing them. They really surprised me with how well they work together. It's nice when my own characters can still surprise me. Interesting prediction, we shall see how that plays out very soon! And sorry, but also, I want KFC now too. I'm so easily led!

I think for Blane and Levi's situation, there is a little hope - Kingswood's "offer". Maybe Kingswood would offer them a little dorm living together, having a small family inside Kingswood, so they both don't need to leave Kingswood? I don't know, but I do hope so.

I'm glad to see Levi got through to Chris on why him and Blane need to move out. Blane's fear of being like his parents is tough for him, even though I know there's no risk of that actually happening. Meanwhile, great strategy from Nicky to convince Chris to book an appointment about his headaches. These have to be something mental health related, considering he didn't have them at home. I wonder if they're caused by stress, then the stuff with Danny would be contributing. Chris needs to figure out a way to get Danny to talk. But for Danny's sake, but also for Chris, this frustration is affecting him. My vote on the strategy is for Chris to operate on Danny's level by refusing to have sex with him until he talks. I know Danny has other partners available, but he still wants to do it with his boyfriend, regardless. I liked the moment between Danny and Mark, both him offering support in the most Danny way and the follow-up conversation about saving and being saved by Josh. David is doing well with Tyler's help, they're so good together, and I don't think them knowing Tyler's plan makes it any less effective. But they keep getting hit with small temptations here and there, first last chapter's averted risk from the shot down idea of recording the KFC, and now from Chris' offer for them to watch. They've been managing to avoid them so far, we'll see if there's any relapse, but Tyler will be there to pick them back up if there's one. It's unfortunate that David can't really talk about this with their dorm. Mikey's new business is going in an interesting direction, but now I want to eat at KFC. I've been liking how he's involving more people in the decision process and now that continues with the audience participation idea resulting from Kian's comment. Regarding Todd, it's interesting that Mikey doesn't realise the magnitude of how much what he did helped people. And I like that we're going into a plot of it potentially ruining sex, and how to fight against that, because that sounds like a natural consequence. When David first diagnosed Nicky with ADD, I thought they were right, but now Nicky's focus in studying has them thinking they were wrong. I wonder if maybe David was right all along and this was the result of Nicky pushing past the ADD to prove Mr. Stone wrong. I agree with Rich about the GCSE mock exams, I think Nicky will do well because of that motivation and Danny is about to get a wake up call, considering he seems way to relaxed. On an unrelated note that's not worth a new paragraph, fuck Jazz.

For the cutest scene in this chapter, I'll vote on Danny-Mark's SJC and SBJC scene! And funny that, in the past few days, KFC here just had a very bad and failing marketing campaign!

Nice to see Levi get begin to get through to Chris about he and Blane leaving. I'm sure there'll be more friction ahead between, but it's progress. I'm with Chris on the 'shake Danny until he talks.' I'm just paraphrasing that because I can't be bothered to re-open the file atm. I'm very frustrated with Danny these days myself. While I'm still very much in the Rob/Mikey couple corner, as it doesn't seem likely to happen anytime soon, I am willing to be in the Mikey/Kian dating corner until then. I think they could be a cute couple as well, and if it helps Kian heal, then I'm all for it. Mock GCSE prediction - Danny bombs them and Nicky does extremely well. And damn it, Matt, now I want some Kentucky Fried Chicken!

The large print version was accidentally uploaded instead of the regular version. I've corrected it now. So not to be too cliche, but... it's not you, it's me! lol

Also, did you change the fonts or enlarge the type on the .pdf version. I opened it today and it giving me almost 60 pages of large type. I don’t know if that is my iPad acting up or something you did on the creation end of things.

It's fried chicken, typed with either fat fingers or an overzelous autocorrect! Dammit!

Matthew Smith

What on earth is “Friend Chicken”?
