Farewell from Straw, Hello from Althalus 👋

Hi, all! If you haven’t guessed from the title: this is my last week working on Melvor. 

When I first joined Melvor back at full launch (October 2021), I had no idea how incredible the journey was about to be. 

I’ve worked in a few gaming communities, and Melvor is by far the best. Y’all help each other out, create the best spreadsheets, and y’all have the best jokes. 🤠

I will never forget how Xow took over the Discord when we announced Melvor Idle 2. Almost overshadowing the news itself LOL. (Still waiting to see how he is implemented in the game.)

Malcs is the best developer I’ve ever worked with, and he is truly passionate about delivering a great experience for everyone in the community. He and the team are working hard every day on Melvor Idle 2, and there are still many surprises he has waiting for everyone! (I swear.) 

Keep giving your feedback because the team is listening! They truly are dedicated to building the Melvor 2 alongside the community. 

You can’t completely get rid of me though! Malcs is ever so kindly allowing me to stick around in the server. You’ll find me here fishing Eels or working away in the coal mines with the rest of you. (Until it’s time to get my butt kicked in combat.)

However, now I can help bully Malcs and Prat even more. 😈 And I can’t be fired. 

My last day of work is tomorrow (Friday, Sept. 5), but the community manager throne will not be empty.

Hey everyone! I’m Althalus (Straw 2 apparently???), and I’ll be taking the torch from StrawHat. I’ve been quietly working with Straw in the background for a few years. I know how much she’s dedicated herself to the Melvor community, and every time I get a chance to look in I see why! Like she said, this is, honestly (no exaggeration)(for real), one of the best communities I’ve ever come across - I’m really excited to get to jump in and work with Malcs and the team!

I’m much newer to playing Melvor than a lot of you (you can make fun of my insane XP waste), but I’ve been absolutely hooked on the MI2 Alpha so far. The Melvor team is incredibly lucky to have you all along for the ride, the feedback you’ve all been giving is gold dust (maybe coal dust is more valuable), and I’ll be doing my absolute best to help keep that feedback flowing to Malcs et al.

Taking over from Straw is going to be a big task. I’ll be doing my best to fill her boots (which are shockingly big considering how small she is). I’ll be haunting all the usual channels on Discord, on all the Melvor socials and here on Patreon. Please don’t be a stranger!
