Lemme Tell You About my PDX Adventure!

Hokay, so. Woke up this am to throw on my Goth Team Rocket Cosplay, drop Jades off to get his hair trimmed up all punk rock like, drive to the convention center to pick up badges for everyone on my Women in Horror Panel, answer a call from Crystal Conner saying she's sitting in traffic and still 2 hours out (our panel is in 45 minutes), I drive back to pick up Mr. J (and some safety pins), shoot a message to my other panelist, go back to the convention center, pin my R to my dress, fix my corset, and make my way to Panel Room 6. At this point I have heard nothing from my second panelist, so Jades and I jumped to the stage and he let me talk for an hour about women in horror with the exception of a conversation about Aliens and dissection of Rape Revenge Films vs Use of Sexual Violence to Show a Message. Afterwards, some people came up and thanked us for addressing such a horrific subject so well, and we took a hot minute to freshen up before Crystal and her sister made it to the convention center. I gave her her badges and then went in search of this Meowth plushie (Because what's Team Rocket without Meowth?). Then, Mexican food and a nap. THEN, Jades and I started our research. First we went to the Lovecraft, which of course is beautiful and spooky. We talked with people who know the owner and got some inside scoops on how they run their stuff, then we went to a lovely little hookah lounge and had a conversation amongst ourselves on what sort of show we would want to bring to Portland under our own banner. There was some research into what PDX already has and what could be successful in this scene. As I type this, we are sitting in the back of a venue called The Raven that is AMAZING. The stage is good, their front parlor is comfy and has just enough kitschy spooky stuff to be fun, the food menu looks good and to be honest, this would be my first choice for a performers and DJs style spooky show in this town. More research to be done, but I love these hunts. I feel full of creative energy - this venue is like a lump of clay waiting to be molded into a beautiful work of interactive art. Stay tuned, boils and ghouls.
