In 2007 he really was 2 hrs from death, docs told him he did the equivalent of 4 bags of heroin. At the peak of his drug use he's said he was taking up to 60 valium and 30 vicodin pills a day. Elton John actually helped him get sober, he's now been sober for 12 years!

That's why Em stayed in Detroit, so they weren't near paparazzi. And apparently the community is tight, cuz even with all the phones pics weren't spread around. Eminem actually use to read to the kids in class, be involved in parent school stuff. Hailie was Homecoming Queen and Valedictorian. Kids went to public schools. Em did a great job balancing it all

2020-08-30 04:59:44 +0000 UTCYep. He overdosed on Christmas Dec 2007....the date of the final letter. He was addicted to Valium but his dealer had given him methadone and he didn't know it. It was his daughters who found him, unconscious and almost dead. They'd heard him fall (the sound at the end of Castle). They tried to rouse him and called an ambulance (the sounds at the beginning of Arose). He was in critical care and woke up a couple days later. The doctors told him he'd ingested the equivalent of 4 bags of heroin and would have died if he didn't get to the hospital when he did. Btw....Hailie's birthday is Christmas day...so when he says "Jade I'm missing your birthday!" he's talking to Hailie Jade....it's all true. He had one relapse in early 2008 which was his wake up call that he couldn't beat drugs alone, and after that took his addiction and recovery seriously. He's been sober since.
