His music is SO personal that if you don't know what was happening, or why he is like he is, it doesn't hit as hard as it can. 3/4 of his songs matter so much to fans because of his back story, both hardships, his loyalty and commitment to ppl, his many issues, and his success.

Em isn't made for the fame, and he Literally couldn't go anywhere after the My Name Is video blew up. He became a prisoner of his success (obviously living in a guilded cage, and he acknowledges that often cuz he knows). ALL the Fans Obsession, and ALL the Massive Criticism and Hate, just kind of made him snap. So he wrote this song, then made The Real Slim Shady right after, lol. He really did need to get it all off his chest!

Em said in a lot of songs he never wanted to be this big and hated being this famous, he still hates it! Yeah he was being black balled by the radios at a point, politicians were trying to take him down, activist group trying to get his record off the stores, during his tour of this album I think, he was under the threat of being arrested after his shows coz of some songs (like kill you) or his skit on stage when he did drugs
