Nah I always found most of his shady shit if youโre paying attention is packed full of top notch rhyme schemes, cadences etc on top of the shock value.

I was thinking the same when he brought it up. Was gunna go listen to a few songs. I kno a few are funny stories that rhyme. Anyway I can see adults now listening to this n hating it. I grew outta it the way eminem did. When it came out, i wAs a rebel teen and found the drug and sex stuff funny. N it still is special to me but jeez there r ppl who say he was better then n wish he nvr changed? Him growing and changing is whAt made his legacy. Made his discography perfect and unique n became the goat

Pretty sure this was one of the tracks Wyclef was playing on The Fugees tourbus when Busta heard Em for the first time and said he literally put his head through the window. I dunno if thatโs just Busta being funny but thatโs what he said in an interview ๐คฃ

This and still don't give a fuck were low key disses at at Ra the rugged man. Ra is dope too but he's kinda been black balled. He's got some records with tech and locksmith that are dope.

I think the MMLP would be a better example of exactly what youโre saying, slightly less โshock valueโ raps so it wonโt be over shadowed plus, same as you SSLP on the latter of ems catalog for me..... encore is my least favorite but SSLP only edges it out because of nostalgia. MMLP HAS shock value as well but his verses are better constructed and his multi syllable rhyme schemes got better tuned. But your take on SSLP is A1. ๐๐ฝ

I think Detroit rappers rapped off beat on purpos back then to have their own sound. If im not mistaken

This dude can rap on any beat about anything giving you syllables, cadences, deep rhyming, using words you never use. Since day 1. Even if the beat is meh, the raps always fuck you up.

sslp is one of my least favorite albums of em's & obv he's improved exponentially since, but idk why u think he wasn't rapping. . .For that time, he had crazy internal rhyming/multisyllabic rhyme patterns & unique cadence. these lines r a good example of that (i think crook referenced them once too):
"I'm zonin' off of one joint, stoppin' the limo
Hopped in the window, shoppin' a demo at gunpoint" He rhymed the outer 2 syllables & the inner 5 syllables. He does that the whole album. . .just saying. The technical skill was there, maybe u just think it got overshadowed by the content?

Thereโs a version of this song out after he signed with Dre but his voice had already changed quite a bit so it didnโt sound as dope as this one.

Yo Stevie this song actually came out in 1998. It was the 2nd song on the slim shady EP. Iโm not sure why Eminem didnโt put this on the slim shady LP because itโs legit a dope song
