When he says "but how dare you try to take what you didn't help me to get" - He's referring to the fact that his Mom filed an 11 million dollar slander lawsuit after the SSLP. The judge eventually awarded her $25,000, but she made such a shit deal with her lawyer that he took $23,500 which left her with only $1,500.

Her diss was basically a track full of her talking about how she was too wonderful a mother and loved him too much which made him into the horrible person he became and how she should have been harsher and punished him harder. Basically the epitome of narcissistic "I CARRIED YOU FOR 9 MONTHS" type of mother (she was diagnosed by a psychologist as having narcissistic personality disorder with concurrent paranoid schizophrenia and Munchausen's by Proxy during the court case that saw Michigan state take Nathan away and put in foster homes). This was Em's response to her diss, and he later apologised for it in Headlights. They're still estranged though. Eminem won custody of Nathan whom he adopted and continued to raise, and only one of his own kids (I THINK Hailie, when she was little) ever even met Debbie. He still lowkey financially supports her, which Debbie confirmed years ago (she had cancer and publicly thanked him for covering everything) but they've been estranged since 2000.

His rapping skills and shock value got him into the game, but it was songs like this that really made Em an icon. These are the songs that made people stans, they reach you with emotion in ways few rappers can. Dope reaction once again Stevie, another song to help you learn about Em. Gotta do headlights next. You won't enjoy the song sonically but you'll appreciate the growth and contrast to this song.

In some songs he says it was just his fist but then in others, like this one, he admits to it being a pistol. He got a few years of probation for it. Also, "how dare you try to take what you didn't help me to get" is referring to how his mom sued him for $10 million, after her lawyer fees and everything I think she got like $2,000. His bully from the song Brain Damage also sued him for $10 million, that case was dismissed. The Eminem Show album is a lot of him being personal and talkin about shit he went through in his past and at that point in his career. SSLP, MMLP, and TES all got more and more personal.

If you did a research paper on Hip Hop you will see that Eminem Show is unarguably the Greatest Album in the genre. Over 30M world wide sells, Certified Diamond, Over 7 years on the charts (most albums barely make it over a year), Documented Influence on other great artists, etc, etc..... According to the #s he has the Greatest 2 albums, GKMC is the only competition as far as charting goes
