One of his best for radio content. Bout it. No soul, no heart. Lacks the horrorcore stuff that turned a lot of people off, and I get why, but doesn't compensate with anything, stylistically. It's sanitized, corporate. Half the album sounds... generic. Saying it's his peak with lyrical ability is insane; it' middle of the pack. Comparing the content to Revival or even some other albums it ain't there. Although Revival wasn't the greatest either, unfortunately. It's even cringy at times. Soldier? Dude he tried to leverage his relationship with 50 into some half gangster image, G Unit bouncing on stage dressed like a Detroit thug like 1/4 of the time. I didn't like half-thug-Em, wasn't genuine. Didn't fit. The production was dope af but stylistically, nah man, wasn't anything exciting or unique about it's sound. It's a good album. some creative stuff, some good tracks. Again; one of his best for radio songs. If that was the discussion I wouldn't even argue. But best? C'mon, now. It doesn't live up to all this hype. Not by a longshot. I do agree with the very few skips. But that isn't unusual for Em. And there aren't many true standouts; songs where you say "oh that is a CLASSIC song. White America and Superman, maybe.. But keep in mind I'm comparing it with other Em albums. I do like it a lot. Just doesn't add up, man. And other people are entitled to their opinion. I'm glad people like it a lot, think it's his best, etc. I just don't get why that is the one most Stans pick; aside from that wave and influence and hysteria at the time, the radio play, and it lining up with when the remaining folks got on board with Em.. I do like the lack of horrorcore element a lot, the production and the creative aspects of it very much. As well as some of the song content. But ya man I just don't see it, without the stuff I mentioned being true. *i forgot Sing for The Moment. So 3. 3 classic songs. But regardless, everything else I said stands. But it's not like I'm compairng it to... idk man, some awful rapper' catalogue.

His flow is perfect, wordplay is dope, incredible production, bangers, content, lyricism, etc. It's also a huge departure from the themes of MMLP and also has far less of the horrorcore elements - so it's a completely different style to Eminem as well and focuses far less on "shock value" and far more on straight hip-hop. Cleanin' Out My Closet, Square Dance, Til I Collapse, Soldier, Sing for the Moment, Superman, Without Me, White America, Hailie's Song, etc. The album is jam packed full of great content. 2 skips max and one of them is a song with his daughter - so I give that one a pass (My Dad's Gone Crazy).

It's a good album with some classic tracks. but not a classic album. And he has a few actual classics. Maybe even 5 or 6. But man, the only thing I can think of is the energy and momentum of the era. That is right about the time that EVERYONE was into Em and he was on top of the world, getting radio play, accepted by all.. It does seem like the Stanniest album lol though I have to believe most people putting it in their top 5 are 24-29 years old.. I'm not even talking shit. I dig the Eminem Show. But compared to the majority of his albums, content-wise? No way it's one of his stronger albums. I'm in total disbelief by how much I read that on here. Has to be for other reasons.

Jimmy pushed for it as a doorway to hook the public (people forget, Jimmy's the marketing genius of the trio. That mythical dragon was 3 headed, not just Dre and Em!), as everything else was so dark. It's actually the topic of The Way I Am, if you listen carefully. That song was written on the plane journey from Detroit to LA as a direct result of pressure from the label ("And I wish I would just die or get fired, get DROPPED from my label! Lets STOP with the fable, I'm NOT gonna be able to TOP on "My Name Is"), which is what the Steve Burman skit is reenacting.
