Hey Scoot I just wanted to say I love the content you create. I'm currently deployed to Iraq and waiting for the Steven Universe reactions has really made time fly and it's almost time to go home. It's really sad to see the series end but I know that I'll stick around for whatever comes in the future with your content. I hope you're having an amazing day or night if you ever read this ❤️

Normally when Gems shatter they do stay destroyed. But the Diamonds never used their powers collectively to restore a shattered gem. After finding out they can do that and cure corruption, I assume they’d never attempted to reform shattered gems, because they just assumed it was true death.

I heard that Rebecca sugar and the crewniverse has been talking to cartoon Network about doing more Steven universe. Even though this is a rumor it is one that I seriously hope is true because I absolutely love Steven universe.

I think what steven was going through was basically a delayed reaction to his childhood trauma. As a kid he kind of had to raise himself; he had plenty of love from his dad and the gems, but no structure. His dad didn't want to stifle him the way he'd been by his parents, and the gems had no concept of "growing up" and were still reeling from losing Rose Quartz. Steven had to occupy his own time, and thanks to the diamonds, he always had some shit to focus on. Once the gempire was overthrown, he had to focus on rebuilding. Once everything was rebuilt, he found he wasn't as needed as he thought, and suddenly he had to figure out what to do with himself *without* a war or monsters or adventures that required his attention. Suddenly he had a second to breathe, time to think, and time to realize actually? shit was really messed up. He never went to school or the doctor. He was a child soldier. A lot of gems (the diamonds, jasper, bluebird) had treated him beyond horribly, but now the war was "over" and they were his "friends" now, so you can't punish them now, right? That's a lot of stifled anger and trauma.
And as for going to the gems for help, as he grew up he came to feel like he was responsible for the gems' emotions (like in The Test, when he lied to make them feel better. It was nice of him to do, but it shouldn't ever be a kid's job to comfort their parents). Plus, when he was a kid, what did the gems do every time they dealt with something painful? They ran away like Pearl in that lion episode, they exploded with rage and violence like Amethyst in the kindergarten, they bottled it up til it almost tore them apart, like Garnet in the experimental fusion lab. He didn't have a healthy example of what to do with rage and trauma, and when he finally had time to address his, he did what he saw his parents do. And that was the wrong thing.
He'd spent so much time occupied doing stuff that was absolutely the Right Thing (ending an oppressive dictatorship and curing corrupted gems) that once that Good Fight was over, all those suppressed feelings of resentment and rage started coming out, first directed at Rose, and then himself. Turning into a monster was him trying to push everyone away and prove himself right, that he was no longer needed and once he was too hard to deal with, everyone would leave him. That's why the hug was what he needed. That his family saw him at his rock bottom and still refused to give up on him, he could forgive himself (and maybe someday Rose) too. And let himself really tackle all the unpleasant feelings he'd been running from.
Thanks for reacting to this series. It's nice to see someone come at it with fresh eyes and new perspectives. I'd absolutely watch a series where you showed it to your wife lol.
Also, i thought it was cool how the diamonds and steven were opposites in this series. They got new powers that let them undo all the harm they caused. He got new powers as an expression of all the harm they caused. It's neat the creators put so much thought into a series that was obviously going to mean a lot to so many people. It's not perfect, but y'know. Hotdogs.

Idk if you've seen this but it's a mashup of Ed, Edd and Eddy and Steven Universe. Look up "Gem, Gemm n Gemmy" on youtube.

there was a tweet once where the creators commented that they would love to bring it back. But nothing came of it that we know of.

Damn that hurt to watch again bro. Goat as always. Dude I feel like I know you. You’re such an outstanding content creator that even if we never had a single conversation I know you. Your community has felt like home fr when things are hard. That’s the exact same feeling I had when I first watched SU. You’ve really helped me relive the series that got me through the worst times of my life and I genuinely can’t thank you enough for being such a freaking awesome person, Scoot! Love you bro⭐️
