Dre's verse on here certainly depicts the relationship between him and his so called friends, like snoop, that turned his back on him when he signed Eminem. I can't remember the source, but in some interview, someone close to the situation recalled how everyone close to Dre were against him signing Eminem. The same people that Dre put on and Doctored their music which resulted in them blowing up. At the time they claimed to be his "ride or die" homies. After he signed Em, seems like they started distancing themselves from him which is more than likely the reason they get dissed in the song. Based off Dre's lyrics, they didn't ride with him during his darkest times and the only one that stood by his side even when shit was tough, was Eminem. This is a talk to shit record for Dre, and I love it.

Was still producing, and Em and many others were trying to convince him to release his next album and it took alot of pushing from them. He finally finished it a few years back.

He was at a low point in his life and Em was there. I think with Em going through recovery he understood and supported each other then. Em needed him and Dre needed Em which wasn't the 1st time in their relationship. Also, this is the track where Em and Skylar met. Despite all Skylar's journey and attempts in the music industry, Em has stayed loyal as he truly believes she is super talented and super underrated, they are like family now.

According to Skylar it only took Em 2 hours to write it. She played him and Dre the hook and then Em sat down and had the lyrics done in 2 hours.

But, Em stayed with him and I assume was by his side behind the scenes while Dre was grieving.

To me that makes it all the more disgusting what his now ex wife is doing (correct me if I am wrong! 2020-12-30 22:18:55 +0000 UTCStory goes that during this time period, Dre was thinking about taking a break from producing and getting frustrated with all the bs that goes on behind the scenes between record labels and the 'critics'. Meaning that he was getting sick and tired of watching people make some killer albums and tracks, but due to the "higher ups" at some labels, their artists were getting all the attention but not really getting the same amount of "sales" which is a direct connection to who people were really listening to. As far as Em, this was coming right off the heels of his time off between Relapse and Recovery, where he was viewed by some as attempting to distance himself from "Dre's production sound". So, when the cards were right, both of them were feeling a little ticked off at the industry as a whole AND the critics who wanted to put both of them in "boxes", they came out with a new sound (this track) as both a show that they were 1) STILL working together and 2) That the "new sound" was BOTH of them branching out in new directions as well as 3) Showing all the 'critics' that they had no idea what the hell they were talking about as Dre/Em were constantly working with each other behind the scenes and giving each other advice and help as needed.
