The song Stan is SO much more than just a story about a crazed fan writing Eminem. It's a deep interpretation of not only how fans feel about Eminem but how Eminem perceives his fans, his fame, his true thoughts, and trying to explain people shouldn't be taking him so seriously, or any artist. It's a true masterpeice and imo one of the best written and impactful rap songs, period.

It's almost not a fair fight, this verse is the apex of an incredibly detailed story across two songs spanning 15 years of his career, the meaning behind this verse is simply untouchable. The emotion, the way it makes you feel, this is the shit that Em will be remembered for, more than his lyrical acrobatics. It's a disarming level of honesty and self awareness. This is how you do the whole "talking to my conscience" thing without it being mad corny (tom macdonald lol) Best friend is a better verse in terms of wordplay/metaphors, rhyming and cadence but yeah Bad Guy just makes you feel something. Especially if you know about Em's career, hence why Stevie felt this verse so much more now that he has more background on Em compared to when he first heard it. I know it's cliche but I think only Till I collapse, Lose yourself and maybe sing for the moment come close in terms of emotional weight.
