Know a lot of people that this song could almost be a biography for. Hate art censorship. WITH A PASSION. It’s messed up this was taken off the album. Because the intent was genuine, the music fire, the storytelling REAL. As a lesbian, this song is an anthem to me. Just wanted to say that.

The way they captured the struggle of the gay community and someone that’s homophobic but have their own internal struggles they have of their own sexuality. He said that they were trying to take advantage of something that was extremely relevant at the time. I remember before the song leaked Joyner Lucas was video chatting with.... S*** I forget his name. Will Smith's son. He told them what the song was about and told him that Eminem was going to be on the last verse. I also heard that when Joyner Lucas left his label they still owned the rights to the song and wouldn't let him release it. I'm not sure how true that is but I did see that a few places.

Thanks Stevie. Also about the album, I had pre-ordered Joyner's ADHD album thinking Em was on it, he did a bunch of interviews and kept mentioning about songs he's done with Em and kept this up all the way until he dropped the album. Not a single song with him. Left me disappointed and have not really re-visited the album.

He is playing a character so I don't really think he needed to throw in the wordplay, unless it adds to the story (the next to impossible line was dope, but the logic mixed feelings bar just took me out of the verse haha). IIRC that was a part of the problem people had with this verse when it leaked, but you are right it's a dope concept.

It was 2 different versions of homosexuals Version 1.Joyner. he was trying to come out to his best friend and be courageous but wasn't accepted which further dropped his confidence and security down he felt more alone and eventually killed himself. Version 2 eminem: he was the type that was beaten physically and mentally about homosexuals and how they are blasphemous and they should burn in hell etc(probably from strict religious parents) so he acted as he was taught to hate homosexuals (though deep inside he was a homosexual himself) and couldn't face that fact. So instead he spews hate and says he can't be friends with a homo and spew all the hateful things he was taught. Until the end when his friend killed himself. So then the truth comes out about how much he regrets calling him those names and chastising him for something that he is as well he just didn't have the balls to come out and own what he actually is "gay too"
