1ST LISTEN TO METALLICA - LIVE IN MOSCOW

Comments

You gotta do "Creeping Death" by them from the same show. That's my fav. Metallica song of all time, and that's the best performance of it. Chill inducing energy!

Cody Gudmundsen

Imagine accidentally being separated from a friend lol you’re not seeing them for days

Blake Serpette

This was right before the fall of the Soviet Union and communism... The people were ready to go CRAZY!!

Leann

Im a hiphop head, but love Metallica. I even got a tattoo ”life is ours we live it our way” from Nothing else matters. Old tattoo me and my brother from another mother did 👑

Ted

Imagine being in the last row

Joe

I third that 😂💯👍🏽

Anthony Spence

I second that!

Szymon Frąckowiak

Agreed!

lukeslayer

Do some more Metallica, doesn’t need to be live. Anything of the ride the lightning album or master of puppets you won’t be disappointed.

Ryan Grant

You should put this on YouTube too .. it’ll pull a lot of people in bruh

Anthony Spence

At least 50 people died, I think most were killed by the police/ military

Eddie Sewell

Waken festival is pretty crazy.

Abram Malcom

This was at the time when Soviet Union was falling, so the Russian government decided to make a free festival/concert for all the youth/students. AC/DC headlined, there was Metallica, Pantera, The Black Crowes and one local band. At the time when Metallica was on the stage there probably wasn't 1.6 million people, but by the time AC/DC came out it was, but you can't see the crowd because it was night time when they came out. There is Joe Rogan interview with James (Metallica's frontman) where he said there was 500k people when they were on stage. You commented on logistics; you can see the Russian Army there doing what regular security would be doing at concerts. So there's that. Also around 53 people died. As someone already suggested you can watch AC/DC Live At The River Plate in Argentina. In my opinion South America has the best live audience in the world and that's a good concert to see how crazy they are. If you ever get the chance to see some of those really big rock/metal bands live it's worth it even if you don't know or listen much to it, because that live experience is really great and it's much different compared to hip hop live stuff. So bands that can still pull crazy stadium numbers live today like AC/DC, Guns n Roses, Metallica, Rolling Stones etc.

Nikola

I didn't know this concert happened at the time but I remember that August. It was bit tense in this corner of the world. I got 20 on that same month and didn't follow much news but you couldn't miss the headlines with the August coup that was going on on Russia. They said that if that would have gone through they would have had tanks ready to invade Finland. So it was real relief when it fell through. But I can only guess what kind of relief it was in Russia too. This concert happened month after that was totally over. While it was big concert because who all were playing in there, since metal music is big genre in almost all the countries that are next to us, I think it was also celebration for the fact that the coup didn't go through and they didn't go back under communist regime. I don't know how many people were there from outside Russia, since it takes time to get visa there and this concert was added while the tour was on road because of the coup. But you can easily get that many people from Moscow alone to there since back on those days there was bit over 9 million people living in that city and there is St Petersburg also close enough to travel there for a day. The death count I saw for this was 53.

halmond

The great metal band, Pantera, was one other band there with Metallica in Moscow that day that torched that show. Pantera has the greatest metal guitar player to ever pick up a guitar. That’s not my opinion, that’s a fact. His name is Dimebag Darrell. His career was cut short when he was shot and killed on stage by disturbed fan during a performance at a concert in Ohio. RIP. Thank goodness this performance was captured. Check out Pantera, the song is Domination (Live in Moscow). If Dimebag’s guitar solo doesn’t melt your face then your face is Unmeltable. LOL. The whole band is incredible in this performance. Enjoy.

David Greider

Thats a fact, gets the most hate but have the biggest fanbase 🤘

Bargard

Metallic is a long trip you can take yourself down! It would be dope to see reactions to more of their stuff.

Alex Gigas

Crazy thing was this concert was free

Sheo XiX

Haha Great intruduction to Metallica, this is their most comercial song so if you enjoy instruments and some heavy lyrics you should deff check more of them out. Ever since i was a kid and my older brother brought a mixed cd with one of the songs was "one" by metallica and they stuck with me since, Goats of metall

Bargard

That’s 4% of Canada’s population today 😳

cr!t!c

He really need to listen to Pink Floyd - Another Brick In The Wall (HQ)

Roobix13

I saw metallica live in 2019 and it was only an arena but was still crazy. My biggest concert was louder than life festival 2019 and I was front row for the headline for slipknot and you COULD NOT MOVE. Everyone jumping and pushing, it was like 20,000 fish doing a wave left to right

Jay Carter

So glad you did this Stevie! You gotta check out some more of Metallica's music, Master of Puppets, Battery, and Sanitorium are some of my favorites. Believe it or not, they actually have some bars 😅 pay attention to the lyrics for Master of Puppets and you'll see what I mean. They also have some 🔥 guitar sections in all their songs, with some rlly fucking cool breakdowns in the instrumentation.

DesertKate Walker

Yeah, I was born in 2001 but I'm an "old head" for rock. Lot of the shit nowadays sounds more like pop-rock.

DesertKate Walker

Yessir Stevie! Metal has a lot to offer in terms of music, Em reactions and people opening up to metal reactions are the 2 best type on youtube. You got a big crowd to please in this field and a lot of absolutely awesome music to discover. Keep it up brother can't wait for more. Metallica and Sytem of a down are great starting points.

MarsupialJr

Metallica was a HUGE group for 90's Rock. Personally I feel Rock fell off by the early 2000's making this one of the last superstar Rock bands, for me anyway.

Toni-Ann

Now you see why they army was there fam 🤣🤣🤣

MimiLoveee♡

Yeah watch them do creeping death 👆

MimiLoveee♡

Check out ANY video of AC/DC - River Platte concert. Crowd wasn't there just because it was a "festival". They were there to enjoy the MUSIC. I mean, REALLY enjoy the music. Multiple times they would have audience singing chorus or singing along to the main "riffs", or simply dancing to the solos. And when I say "dancing", I don't mean a few here and there, but HUNDREDS in an ENTIRE SECTION dancing and singing. (Plus, a much better audio quality than the Metallica Moscow concert. While "bigger" in regards to crowd size, the AC/DC crowd was "better" due to being more familiar with the group and audio)

Herrzimm

Right 1.6 million Fam think bout that ❗❗❗❗

MimiLoveee♡

Ok, now that we all enjoyed seeing the massive crowd, now is time to actually LISTEN TO THE MUSIC! Metallica - ONE

Herrzimm

MimiLoveee♡

Thanks for doing this one. I think some have had bigger numbers, but this one was filmed and documented well

Mike Morgan

Damn. I didn’t think about that when watching this originally then Stevie said it in this reaction and it made me think about it. Yikes thinking about it how was it not more. That’s nuts. Thanks for looking that up

ShadyTitania

Death toll 51. I didn’t know that but when you said it, I was like that many people in that state of being. Had to be injuries. But yep. Wow!

Joseph Astle

I am so pumped! I wanted you to do this video! Can’t wait to watch it right now!

ShadyTitania

Awesome that you did this. Thank you stevie

Nat 82

Yes man! Been waiting on a Metallica reaction for a minute! Deffo do Battery and Master of Puppets, that album is a metal classic and a great leap off point.

Martyn Rogers

Ride the Lightning bro

Jabba WalkiiE

Stevie, Metallica's group founders wanted to find a way to make classically written music sound hard. They use alot of harmony between the strings.

Jabba WalkiiE

Metallica was one of the reasons I learned to play music. \m/

Jabba WalkiiE

Such a wild event hahah bonkers

phoenix

Yay! :) thank you Stevie

Julie Khov

What did you think? I have a few albums. The older albums from The Black Album back are my favorite when I am in that mood!
