Lmao how you not get it? This song is pretty good but not the best Atmosphere record. Their best cuts are from their earlier works. Their first handful of records are stellar. EDIT: I shouldn't be like HOW YOU NOT GET IT? When the reality is, it could be open to interpretation, as it's kinda open ended. I always just assumed that he was a guy down on his luck later in life, who spends time at a cafe that his daughter works at, just to see her, even though she doesn't like him. He knows she is his daughter, but she doesn't know he is her father, and maybe because of his circumstances, he's afraid to tell her because it wouldn't matter anyway. He's a bum, he's got nothing to offer a daughter he was never present for in the first place. "Damn, I should have been a better father to my daughter."
