He had youth, passion , rawness , more to say. Anger. Arguably his best flows in that era. Etc. I’d take soldier verse/ way that i am/ til i collapse verse over any of these listed. And i can name many more.

It may not be as technically proficient as his newer stuff, but the energy is unmatched, up there with Til I Collapse. If you listen closely you can hear him gasping for breath between bars because he did the song in one take and didn't edit out the breathing in post production in order to make it sound as raw as possible

But after a few more listens you really appreciate how deep the song is. And how hard the lyrics hit. It's one of my favorite songs now.

Ems older shit was not bar heavy in the way that Stevie is looking for, i.e double entendres and schemes. His old shit is more about flow, shock value and emotional content. If he wants that, then we got plenty of songs to suggest but he is getting most of that by going through the albums anyway (currently on TES I believe)
