WE GOT SOME RAKIM - R.A.K.I.M

Comments

Hey Stevie. I fuck with you, but you confuse the hell out of me. You spent about two minutes praising his first half of his first verse And then literally 30 seconds later said you wouldn’t dive deeper with him because he’s not saying anything special. I just can’t believe that song wasn’t good enough to peak your interest in his catalog. Keep in mind this was done as a veteran. For me, the flow is incredible and the lyrics are great. I realize I’ve been sitting with this song for about 20 years now, but regardless It is dope.

I’m an older man. When I think of Rakim, I go back to Eric B and Rakim and songs like Paid in Full. This was way back on early hip hop, 1987. He’s truly one of the originals.

18th Letter

Prime OneMillion

For those who don't know, Tech N9ne went at Rakim and Keisha Cole in this song. Excellent suggestion!

Robert Crowley

Not a dude 😂😂. But thanks 😊

RachelMD

Rakim started the inner rhymes that's why he's praised, you need to put that in mind

bz321

The 18th letter is 🔥🔥 he is an originator of complex rhyme schemes without people like rakim we wouldn’t have what we have today

Dylan M

I haven’t heard much, but i can def feel the talent by the wAy he flowed. Sounded dope

The 18th Letter, When I Be on the Mic are good starters

Kostia

Lyrics of fury is a good place to start

Albar

This was rakim on a (what was then new school shady beat) he was making a song people would listen too. My opinion, but to be fair my opinion is bias because it was rakim who truly made me love and respect hip hop. But back then bars were deep and direct not as complex. Just to be honest. The complexity of the bar was in the truth no one wanted to hear at the time.

Brodie Duff

Rakim know the ledge, and paid in full

Eric B. & Rakim Lyrics of Fury

Samuel Alkire

I think the thing with Rakim is he was one of the first to rhyme like that (rhyming every other syllable, etc) and made things more complex. Now his flows and stuff sound more simple to our ears but he is so important because he was the first.

RachelMD

I would say check out rap game with 50 and d12 Ik you don’t really rock with d12 like that but I think it’s a dope one you might like kinda like when the music stops

Jacob Tanchez

Follow the Leader...I Ain’t No Joke...When I be on the mic and I love Know the Ledge are a few to start! Rakim is dope AF!

ShadyTitania

The 18 letter. That's probably my favorite Rakim song. How to Emcee is also a dope ass song.
