Dope ass song though!

Now would be a perfect time for a 2.0 because the time frame he’s speaking on is around where you are in albums right now. I think This song was his mindset during his battle with drugs kinda feeling like I gotta kick this addiction and revive my own career, I can’t carry you guys right now. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I interpreted

He's getting there. His album reviews and our input is his school for em. Give him a chance experience it gradually over time as we all did. Like Linkin Park says "the journey is more important than the end or the start"

See I heard differently. Cuz I looked up videos of D12 members reacting to the song. I know konniva. And I forget which other one or two said they found out about the song when it got released. And they had people hitting them up to ask them what they thought of the song.

I think he means a stepping stone before he blew. They gave “the white boy” credibility in Detroit and in rap battles. He’s said it before, I f one of them blew they put the others on... it was just Em was the one to make it. So I get his sentiments but I also think his debt was paid long ago but like Stevie said “D12 isn’t poppin’” I mean they had their hits purple pills, fight music, etc but unfortunately no one took them as a serious rap group because they were on silly shit (and yes I’m a d12 fan got all both their albums when they dropped) 😅

It's true that Em made D12 big but I did listen to them as a 9 year old Danish kid so they had some reach.
Dope video as always. Respect the grind

Yeaa he talks about this in an interview. It's was right around the time he was heavy into drugs... And was going to rehab because he overdosed on methadone. They gave him the methadone to help with withdrawal symptoms and keep him from doing opiates because that shit blocks the receptors.... But ... For one it's very heavy and will knock you on your ass .. and 2. Where it blocks receptors in your brain when people take drugs while on it... They don't feel like they're getting high. So they take more and more, which also enhances the methadone Soo he overdosed. And ended up back in rehab. Right around that time. Not 100% sure of the date/year... Nm. Looked it up. Lol. About 2008/2009. Also em feels guilty because they were working on an album (D12) but it never got finished because Em had other shit going on. And there was already some animosity between them because there was plenty of times they would have a song and Eminem would listen to it after members sent him their verse and then the next day when they would go to listen to it their verse wouldn't be on it.... That's not uncommon, it happens a lot.. if you thought it wasn't up to par he wouldn't put it on. I'm not sure when he started doing that because I listen to some of the verses but came out on other D12 songs, LMFAO 🤣 and I don't know how they made it on the song. And some of them felt like they got left hanging by Eminem. Same goes for some of the members of outsiders. Not sure if you've listenee to that song fine line, but if you haven't you should because it's an awesome song and very underrated but at the end he shouts out The outsiders and mentions young Zee and pace one. And young Zee actually did a response to that song called dear shady, where he calls him out for never responding to him or asking him to do a feature. Ask him how his family was and I know his house burned down I said Eminem didn't even reach out to him to see how he was doing and he still has to make a living selling weed. but Eminem can't be responsible for everybody else's careers just because he blew up. I think it's f****** b*******. Not to be an a****** but nobody would know who D12 was if Eminem didn't do any songs with them or promote them. Same goes for The outsiders. They would get some recognition but not nearly as much as they do now

Kamikaze is good album, but this song is one I always skip. Used to be a big d12 fan. Always hated bizarre cuz he got no talent at all.

I’m actually curious about the timeframe he was actually writing about.. I know this is Kamikaze but maybe he’s talking from the perspective of him trying to revive his own career in like 2009 after his long hiatus and drug battle. Might be a reach but that’s always how I took it

If anything, its the other way around. No need to apologize, but if this song truly made him feel cleansed then he did his job. Every member of D12 are millionaires cuz of Em. Good friend right there.

Yeah, canibus actually used DZK (the guy Stevie reacted to a bit ago) to pay for a feature with D12, they had no idea the actual intent of the song. Was clever and soft af at the same time

D12 without Em would have been the same as Goodie Mob with out Ceel-lo minus. Not to mention the amount of talent there actually was in Goodie Mob. DF

Kuniva and Swift I think are good by themselves. They dont really need D12. I thought Kunivas’ latest album was great.

He got there blessing to release this song he played it for them.. and any time he talks walking away or letting someone down in or around 2006-2008 is him referencing he's dark period in life after losing Proof he's high school best friend that he loves like a brother with price of fame and taking it so hard and then becoming a addicted to drugs and alcohol and the 5 years in between Encore while still on drugs and Relapse release in May of 09 and early 08 he started he began the 12 Steps program but in December of 2007 is when he overdose on methadone witch he recaps in castle & Arose this timeline

You missed a double by the way..
To these kids you no longer exist
Went from rainin' cats and dogs in this bitch
To tiny drops, little drips
And by the time your reign is over, you'll hardly be missed (Mist - a cloud of tiny water drops)

Oops, hit enter too fast... You should do "Talking 2 Myself" from Eminem soon. I don't know how you'll feel about the beat and the hook, but I can guarantee you'll love what he's talking about. He's talking about his hiatus around 2006-08, his writer block in that dark period of his life, and he mentions Lil Wayne a few times... Very inspirational song!

Eminem never fell off in terms of talent but Kamikaze was his answer to Revival flopping so maybe that’s why he thought his career was on a decline

D12’s album ‘Devils night’ was kinda bug and had a lot of popular tunes on it like Purple Pills, Fight Music and girls amongst many other that I personally enjoyed and I think that album came out around 2000-2002 so yeah it was probably in relation to that album why Em was saying “globally huge”

Jason King
2021-03-04 00:10:46 +0000 UTC
Yeah it was more the Proof connection that helped him, I think he was being a little generous and including the rest of D12 in with that. I just remember hearing how he got booed off stage a lot for being the white boy.

His talent gave him credibility and his friendship with proof definitly gave him that safe space to rap

I think by stepping stones he meant how being in D12 gave him credibility in the rap scene in detroit. I could be wrong tho.

Bro, great reaction, your view of it is exactly as mine was. Seeing em cutting them ties I think was more for him mentally than it was for us as fans of Em. Dude just bared his soul but tastefully. He been popping for 30 years but they had his back the entire time. They were his family. This had to be tough to write I can imagine.
Mario Cables
2021-03-03 23:56:06 +0000 UTC
He informed D12 of the song beforehand. Funny you like the beat. This is a newer song that has 02-03 Eminem written all over it. From the flow to the beat. And even his voice.

this song's got my favourite Eminem line EVER. "By the time your reign is over you'll hardly be missed (By the time your rain is over you'll hardly be mist)"
