Not so much for the insane lyrical acrobatics, even though it does contain a slew of metaphors, great entendres, multi syllabic rhyming, and internal rhyme scheme, it’s also the sheer emotional power and raw honesty of the lyrics combined with the rhyme prowess that makes it hit on two different levels. And the way he spits it, well, conviction of emotion does not even begin to describe it. To me, it just hits harder than almost any other track he has. I think his best verse may be in this song? Or maybe just the best to me 🤷🏼♀️

But I'm surprised no one pointed this out: When he says "Maybe Stan just isn't your cup of tea" it's a double. The Hook in Stan is "My tea's gone cold I'm wondering why...". And also "Like an evil spell, I'm E-V-I-L".... as in Bad Meets Evil? Royce is Bad, Em is Evil?. Dope! This one goes over 90% of the people. To me, The Ringer is probably the only one that can compete with Best Friend. It's got it all: Flow, Cadence, Switch Ups, Content, Bars, Doubles.

On the issue of him losing fans after that BET, I don't think he cared about putting something out that 'attracted' people to him and I don't think he cared about the money in losing fans. I think the reason he cared about his fan base shrinking was because he was standing up for his fans who were being misled by Trump's policies and did not realise the impact their lives would have in the long run. They were just fired up by his antics in the moment. So that was why the line in the sand was defeating the purpose. But you're right, once the heat of the moment left the Trump fans, they were rocking with him again. Someone higher up in the thread who is a Trump supporter described it well. It's a fascinating paradox actually. I'm so pleased you're revisiting these heavy hitters, definitely getting more out of it the second time around!

I knew it would never be better than Best Friend but glad you liked it more this time. Best Friend is going to be hard to beat. The cadence, the flow, the f’n bars, doubles/triples, the feeling, the meaning, the aggression! I love Bad Guy, Medicine Man, etc. but...That said. I know a lot of people shit on the Kamikaze album but I love it! Em is talking his shit in his genius way, cadence, flow bars, etc. There are a lot of fun songs on this album. I listen to Fall all the time. But yea. It’s great but can’t f with the others as far as Em vs Em IMO.

I do gotta say there's 1 thing that bothers me about when you compare tracks and I see you do it a few times; its when you compare them before you even finish the track. I get that you're saying the beginning half or whatever isnt the same as the other track but isnt the point to compare the whole thing. At that point its like you already made up your mind and dont give it a fair chance. And I'm not even saying Ringer is better; I have my own favorite Em verses. But the few times I see you compare tracks it just feels like youre not giving the tracks justice by judging them before some even really get shit going. Anyway, that said, still my favorite reactor and will keep supporting you but hope you consider this going forward

Many of us chose not to listen bc in the BET Cypher he drew a line in the sand saying if we support Trump at all, he doesn't want us listening to his music. (In hindsight, I probably should've just said 'fuck you bro, I listen to what I want') In this song, he revisits that moment admitting he probably should've just reworded his message. Instead of drawing lines, he'd just feel bad for those of us who were "stupid" enough to be mislead by Trumps evil intentions. Anyway, I think that's the real reason for Revival not doing so well. Just happened to come out when he'd "took a stand against a tanned face" and cut his fan base in half. But after Kamikaze, I couldn't help myself, I had to start listening again.
