DO YOU THINK EMINEM IS WACK CHALLENGE?

Comments

How did this pan out? Eminem is the goat I think that’s been proven time and time again

Daniel Lee

Stevie knight

Chris Beauford

I just can't believe it went from. "MGK won that battle.." to this.

Jordan Geister

A million to one that these "biased haters" have never heard just off the top .. "Kings Never Die, Bully, Detroit vs Everybody, Guts over Fear & G.O.A.T"....... Fuck the gimmicks,, these 5 songs are my go-to for Him being on another level Alltogether!!!!

Ryan Kenney

Definitely not wack, he’s one of the goats, but not THEE Goat. He’s done a lot, of course not all of it is good. Probably 20% not good at all, 80% good, with 50% of that number being very good, and about 30% being masterpieces. But my reasoning for this seems to be a different angle than most. It’s because sometimes the quality of his tonality, tendency to get very monotone and not giving enough inflection in the actual vocal tone of his rapping grates my ears. His vocal quality actually used to be more melodic and differentiated in tone throughout his rhyming. As he aged and evolved, it’d like he became so obsessed with the rhyming and syllabic structure itself, to a point that he lost some of that attention paid to how it actually SOUNDS, instead of just how it RHYMES. He also lost most of that Detroit accent that sounded so great in his earlier works. Coupled with the way he used to use pause timing and spaced phrasing in his rapping, his over all tonality used to be extremely pleasing to the ear. I believe when people say they miss the old Eminem, but can’t exactly point out why, just saying something like “he used to sound better, his songs sounded better”, I think it’s actually because of this very thing; it’s kind of an elusive quality to be able to pinpoint. Could be that because I played concert piano for 22 years, it really sticks out to me. But the missing thing I think people buck against in “New Eminem” is actually not missing his anger, aggression, or theme. Because the aggression, themes and passion are all still there. It’s actually the tone, phrasing, and structure that they miss. But let me be clear, I like much of his newer music too. I’m far from a “hater”. Kamikaze and MTBMB A+B are loaded with stellar tracks. And I’m a fan of the song Walk On Water. That song is a masterpiece in my opinion. Someday, I believe it will get the recognition it deserves. I’ve also seen Eminem in concert, and he’s absolutely incredible. One of the best live performers I’ve ever seen. Also my favorite Eminem album may surprise you. It’s actually Relapse. An album that plays like an epic horror film. I’m a writer myself, horror/fantasy/fiction, and a huge fan of the horror film and horrocore music genres, but only when done exceptionally well. It takes one hell of an imagination and a naturally wired story structured thought process to invent all he does in his head. And to the level and extent that he does it, it’s damn near genius. I appreciate the fuck out what he does with the telling of a fable, his weaving of incredibly vivid imagery mixed with the tragi-comedy that was his real life, often finding humor in the grim and inspiration in the grit. Pain. It was pain that fed his brain. And drove him to become an artist. Incredibly, He manifested his real life horror story of addiction into art; art that he’s actually lived through, and actually lived to tell the tale of. No other rapper can take one on such a well constructed horror journey inside the mind of a psychopath or od’ing addict quite like Eminem does. If he’d not been a rapper, he certainly could have written novels or screenplays. He truly is naturally talented in this regard. But I digress. The truth is when he’s good he’s great, but when he’s bad, it’s REALLY BAD. Then there’s the spotty productions 🤦🏼‍♀️ He’s one of the greatest lyricists the world has ever known. But The tracks with annoying, grating, doing way to much, genuinely unpleasant production sound kill his mic fire. It truly aggravates me to hear hard AF bars get ruined by production and I know I’m just never going to listen to it again. But here’s the thing, do anything for as long as he has, and you will have hits and misses. No one delivers 300 masterpiece tracks, every one a winner. It’s not humanly possible 😂 And I think he’s actually recorded closer to 350 tracks so far in his lifetime. If we’re going strictly on odds and percentages, than with the songs he’s made that are good, he’s way, WAY above the average. However, Those numbers and other factors show that he is lyrically amazing, but not unbeatable. I can think of at least two rappers off the dome that have better number percentage and truly gorgeous tone and flo, always, as well as beautiful orchestration and still spit fire. Albeit not quite as well as he does. So, In the goat list, with his best strengths of multi syllabic rhyme structure, lyricism, breath control, word bending, and imagination, and ORIGINALITY (he was is and always will be a true original-no one sounds like the real Eminem), he’s in it for me. Yet he’s usually in the middle of the 5 🤷‍♀️

Rebecca Hopkins

Em isn’t Stevie’s favourite artist either, what’s the conversation going to be about?

Matthew Hindle

Glad to hear the clarification helped some. I don't know that the bar is too high to clear. I absolutely think it may be cleared one day. I am just saying that declaring someone to be the greatest of all time requires actually considering the artists from all time. You can look to the debate over whether the best basketball player is Lebron or MJ. Its a debate, and there is plenty of ammo on either side to make the argument. But, if the argument is that Lebron is the greatest, and MJ isn't really considered in the equation, there is a fundamental flaw to the conversation. If you don't look at the difference in the game between when Michael played and now, there is a huge impact that is being skipped. The original question was whether there was a legitimate argument to be made that Eminem might not be the greatest rapper of all time, that wasn't based on being either ignorant or a hater. At a minimum, I think I have presented a plausible argument that could be made. And just for fun, where do you rank Danny Kay from 1951? https://youtu.be/ybDTAnfpqWM

John Behen

I get what you’re saying there, which helps a little, but it still forever restricts the greatest ever to those who were born earlier than eminem, which really restricts the value of a growing culture

Ricky St. Augustine

WACK?? by no stretch of the imagination. any 1 who says that is weak minded and allow other peoples opinion to the talking for them or just hatin.. is Em my favorite artist.. no... and im willing to have the convo with ya bro. LETS TALK

Eric Capps

That guy is trash, not even listening to the lyrics properly.

Lyes Bouhaddi

That's fair. I may not be making my case clearly. This isn't a question of whether Eminem is one of the best. He clearly is. But for me, being THE best is a much higher bar to clear. Eminem is dominant in an era where the conditions are in place to be dominant. Rap is an accepted music form, labels are actively looking for rappers, there is great crossover appeal, etc. Eminem did not have to blaze any of those trails. He was not facing the same challenges. So, is it more difficult to dominate in an era where everything is open, or is it more difficult to dominate when you have to literally create the genre and the style? It isn't about when they were active. For me, it is about the extra effort, talent, and grit it took to even get your voice heard. That should also be a factor when talking about the greatest of all time. Hopefully, that makes my position a bit clearer.

John Behen

Boiling it all down to “true” hip hop being an album story arc seems extremely limiting to me. I think there are very few who accomplish this, and many of them cannot do half of what eminem can do as a rapper. Really if the only argument against Eminem is album structure, that seems to me that all it does is give someone a tiny hope of one day beating Eminem out for the top spot rather than keeping Eminem from the top spot because no one else is only missing one small detail like that

Ricky St. Augustine

Maybe we’re just not grasping what you’re trying to say..because you really have concluded every argument with Em can’t be the best because other people rapped before him. If that’s the culminating point and fundamental argument, then there’s no reason to discuss because everything has already been done before and now there’s people doing it better. You do have other discussion points within it though. I very much disagree with the claim that Em is not a story teller. Stan is a story and it’s one of the most iconic hip hop songs in affecting pop culture. Bad Guy is even better story telling. Darkness gives people chills. Castle and Arose bring people to tears. Then as far as lyricism, how do you quantify someone as better than eminem? Is it word choice, verse structure, rhyme schemes, enunciation, or something else? I’ve never seen anyone able to objectify logically how someone else is better than Eminem lyrically, and that would go a long way to helping at least see it from your point of view because the current assertion just seems like a different flavor of other rappers are better because they rapped before Eminem rapped

Ricky St. Augustine

Man that some HATE and the comments on that video is only Em haters lmao

Bargard

By all means aim to get on the platform and have the conversation, it would probably be a cool chat between you guys anyway.....but I'm just pointing out you're not fitting the bill for fulfilling the actual challenge here. You literally are agreeing with Stevie's viewpoint...

scamrasc

So I rewatched like you asked me to, and literally the first lines he says on the subject are "I wanna talk to those who think Eminem is objectively whack", and "show me commercially known rappers who stand head and shoulders above him", later he says he's talking to people who genuinely think "Eminem is garbage" and could never be considered as "one of the greats". A couple seconds after that he literally states "I've SEEN dialogue amongst people who think Eminem is whack, and THOSE are the people I'm talking to".....He says it like 10 times! He's not asking someone to prove why Eminem is not #1 of all time....he's NOT asking that....he's asking for objective people who think he is a BAD ARTIST to explain why they feel that way, without the dumbass dickheads who hate him because he's white and have no rational behind their hate (i.e haters). If you're saying "Eminem is absolutely a genius and should be part of the conversation"......then, you're agreeing with Stevie then that he's NOT whack......that's what I'm saying - the challenge is for people who OBJECTIVELY and RATIONALLY think Eminem is absolute ass....which doesn't sound like you

scamrasc

lmao, stevie. just hit this guy up. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6kXTeNTyww

Rama Djuhana

Facts bro 🤣💯

Colin Harris

The arguments I've read against EM so far are hilarious to me. I am not biased either. But, there is a lot of contradictory statements and ignorant statements that make it sound like you haven't really dug into Eminem's catalog.

Jimmy McMinn

I promise to re-read the title, if you promise to go re-watch the video. The ask wasn't just for why "Eminem is wack". Stevie asked for legitimate perspectives on why Eminem might not be the greatest of all time, that weren't based on being a hater or pure ignorance. Since you need it boiled down more, here: Person A thinks that the storytellers are the pinnacle of rap. In addition to maintaining the lyrical flow, they still have to develop and tell a compelling story. It doesn't really matter how many well crafted syllables you can fit into 2 seconds, if it doesn't move the story forward. Eminem is not a top 5 storyteller. It just isn't his style. So for a person who views the storytellers as the top of the rap game, Eminem isn't the GOAT. Take the other side of that medicine question. "Hey, this doctor just performed the perfect artificial heart transplant and finished it with the perfect stitches." Was he a greater doctor than the person who invented the artificial heart? Or the one who discovered antibiotics, so you could survive the surgery? Or the one who perfected anaesthesia? Or the person who invented the autoclave to clean the instruments beforehand? Eminem exists because of those who came before him. He absolutely is a genius, and he absolutely should be part of the conversation. But, greatest OF ALL TIME, is a hell of a bar to clear.

John Behen

"I am not arguing that Eminem is wack. That is a fool's errand." ------> You should re-read the title.... "I got to watch rap grow from its earliest roots. I got to see the the barriers get shattered. For me, that is an incredibly important aspect and those pioneers get less and less respect. They invented the lyricism and storytelling for which Eminem is so well known. I am saying that inventing the category carries some weight as well. "-------> SOOOOOO....you're argument is that OTHERS WERE BEFORE HIM THEN 🤣🤣🤣 Dude you've literally said the same thing over and over in different words. NO ONE is disrespecting the originators of rap, but just because someone invents a way of doing something does not mean it can't be improved upon. Imagine people thought that way about medicine? "Well, this surgical technique is as good as it can ever get, let's never try to do it even better than this". We'd still be dying at age 36!.......You cannot control when you're born. Just because someone older than you invented something does not mean they perfected it. Em will be (and frequently is) the very first person to throw ALL the flowers at the legends who came before him....but just because KRS and LL were big in the 80s doesn't mean either of them could stand toe-to-toe in the ring with Em TODAY. And they know that. Trust.......they know that. Regarding you're other point that "there are others in each category who are better" -------> Em is top 5 to 10 in ALL of those categories, so who are telling us is better than him consistently across EVERY SINGLE aspects of rap. Because that weird fucker mastered literally every aspect. The whole spectrum. So who else is as a complete, perfectionist, well-rounded, total package level of rapper as Eminem? Who else literally does it ALL, to the elite level standard that he does it all? Name every single name that you can list that completely washes Em in every category, and lets see how many there are...

scamrasc

It was seriously funny to see that fanbase switch their tune from Clouds when he ended up saying that it was decent. They went from trashing it to yeah it is okay mode super fast. I don't usually watch him but ended up accidentally checking that video. He had been out from my recommended ones long enough that I forgot how toxic he is. But that tune switch in that toxic chat was really funny. Just proved that people don't use their own brain.

halmond

Able to see it now. :)

halmond

I am not arguing that Eminem is wack. That is a fool's errand. But, the ask was for a perspective in which Eminem may not be the greatest of all time, based in something other than ignorance or just being a hater. At the least, I think I come with a different perspective that isn't grounded in either. And I agree, you can't rely purely on nostalgia. But, you also can't dismiss everything that came before Eminem. He is what he is, because of what those artists did, and they did it in a much more difficult environment. Edit: Its funny that you bring up Muhammad Ali. If you get away from surveys from fans, look at the numbers, and ask the experts... many will put both Sugar Ray Robinson and Floyd Mayweather above Ali. The parallels aren't a coincidence.

John Behen

And rakim himself basically said em was the goat. (“If he was black - he’d be the next Mohammed Ali”. Rakim is a legend but em damn near perfected rap. I respect you, you’re an intelligent guy bro💯. But nostalgia isn’t an argument. It’s an impediment - and it only clouds cohesive perception.

Colin Harris

I can still discuss it in far more detail. But, I needed to get it out there that I have a perspective that isn't uninformed and isn't hate. I love Em, but I can absolutely see how someone can love Eminem and still not think he is the GOAT.

John Behen

@stevie knight 😂🤭 ah well I didn't know. Well then, we still can discuss and we can more in depth though I'm game for it

yaboydjv

You cudve saved all this to discuss bro

Gregory Knight

Bro u cudve saved all this to discuss man....smh

Gregory Knight

Hit me in the DMs brotha

Gregory Knight

scamrasc- No. My argument is that for any given aspect of rap, there are those who are better in that one aspect. For fans of rap who value that one aspect higher, I can see how they would find someone superior to Eminem. I got to watch rap grow from its earliest roots. I got to see the the barriers get shattered. For me, that is an incredibly important aspect and those pioneers get less and less respect. They invented the lyricism and storytelling for which Eminem is so well known. I am saying that inventing the category carries some weight as well.

John Behen

Colin- It is easy to dismiss the past when deciding who the greatest of all time is. It certainly makes it easier, because you don't have to address the impact of each artist in their own time. But, even Em recognizes that he wouldn't be where he is, without those who came before him. Yes, Eminem is an amazing wordsmith. But, so is/was Rakim. And Rakim helped pioneer that shit as well. He didn't have the path laid out in front of him. If we are talking about pure lyrical ability, I have to give it to Rakim, because without Rakim, Eminem never exists.

John Behen

So to summarize in a TLDR: your argument is that other people rapped before he did...

scamrasc

Let's talk lol Eminem Stan sort of. love the music from the wacked shit to the dope shit. story telling to the beef. I think he's done it all in rap if you can think of the most shitest rap song you've heard in rap Eminem has one that can beat it .that goes for all of it from story telling ,beef, reflection of one's career, ups downs , inspiration, aggravation, trolling. I don't think there's an aspect of rap he hasn't touch that he hasn't done better then someone before him that may have paved the way or anyone after him . That's just my opinion anyway. Find your best rapers song find ems best song that compares to the topic with the same intensity I think he wins .might be a new venue to look at Stevie.

John

Man imma nominating this fool for Hater of the Year! Damn he went at Hops too??

Luis Cisternas

Shoulda said you were writing this for the bag my guy - id have respected it more. Making arguments for arguments sake... you lost everyone at “stands on the shoulders of giants”. Maybe once upon a time - now he IS the giant. As for the battling part - gimme a break. There’s nostalgia and then there’s just being stuck in the past. And this whole argument is stuck exactly there - in the past. Go ask Kendrick, Cole and Joyner who’s shoulders they “stand on”. Good effort though.

Colin Harris

Let's Talk - As A Hip Hop Rapper Myself. (If You wish to see if I'm claiming to be That title without any evidence to prove. Check Me Out, My Name is Dorian Veal And heres my links - https://linktr.ee/Dorianveal Also was just featured on my Homie M-Hunt Track Welcome 2 America He just dropped the Lyric Video For it, the Link - https://youtu.be/d5s8lPhJfPw) Now with that out the way I would not say Eminem is not the best hip hop rapper currently. Is Eminem one of the purest greatest of all time, yes but if you sperate how rappers operate between A Rapper and A Hip Hop Rapper. Then no I do not put Eminem into that idea of the greatest hip hop rapper. Now my reason why is because for example. When it comes to story telling. Older Em, like the Slim Shady, around them days. Yes due to songs such as Stan, Kim, Closet and others but even then, Eminem was still more of a Rapper Than Hip Hop artist and as eminem got older, he molded into the best rapper. Were story telling is low and word play is extremely high. Lil wanye would be great example to compare Eminem 2. Lil wanye has some story telling songs but hes mostly focused on giving bars and lyrics. Rapping Artist like a Lil Wanye, A Eminem, A Tech N9ne, A Royce Da 5'9, A Joyner Lucas can give you tracks where no hooks are needed at all. Where the hook is the instrumental, example. 6 Foot 7 Foot, A Milli. It doesnt have a hook at all but it's one of the hardest song lil wanye has. While Eminem tracks have a hook like Rap God. A Berzerk. Tracks like Kill Shot, The Warning needed no hook for it to be a banger. So that's why I say Eminem now. Especially current Eminem is not the best hip hop rapper alive. A better hip hop rapper would be A J.cole, A Kendrick, A Drake, A Kanye because they have been consistently with their albums creating a story to telling. While they have tracks of just rapping. All their bodies of work are filled story telling. Examples: Kendrick - Section 80/M.A.A.D City/TPAB/DAMN Drake - Take Care/NWTS/IYRTNITL/VIEWS/SCORPION J.COLE - Born Sinner/2014/4YEO/KOD KANYE - CD/LR/GRD/MBDTF/YEZ/TLOP/YE Like can you think of current Eminem album where it's truly a hip hop album, a full story arc? I could even throw in Denzel Curry with Zuu as hip hop albums. But that's just me of how I classify Eminem as rapper and not a hip hop rapper Best Hip hop rapper alive? I wouldnt say that honestly. Best Rapper Alive? You must be smoking meth, weed, LSD, Crack & Coke at the same time to think less than that

yaboydjv

There is a logical fallacy in asking whether Eminem is the best. To determine what makes someone the best, you have to identify an objective metric by which everyone is measured. But, when you identify the metric, it becomes clear there are artists in every category that have held their own, or even crushed, Eminem within that category. What’s more, many of those artists not only excelled, but also created those categories. Eminem, as good as he is, stands on the shoulders of giants who paved the ground he walks. Even if he has mastered the category, he is the culmination of years of effort by those artists who came before him. In no category is he the ground breaker, and in very few is he the pinnacle. Eminem’s strength is that he is so solid in so many areas. Wordsmithing There is no question, Eminem is a master wordsmith. His ability to weave words, phrases and concepts is insane, and he is prolific. Is he the best wordsmith in the game? I certainly can understand that argument, but I would also put forth Rakim, Nas, KRS-One, Canibus, Kool Moe Dee and Poor Righteous Teachers as worthy opponents. And all of those artists were trailblazers. Eminem is not. He might very well have perfected the skill, but they created it, expanded it, and gave him the roadmap to follow. Content Eminem possesses the ability to weave a mental image in your mind, building that content with his words and sometimes even the spaces between his words. But, is he better than the truly genius storytellers like Nas, B.I.G., Tupac, Scarface, Andre 3000, Slick Rick, Dana Dane? And once again, all of those artists were trailblazers. Eminem just isn’t. And Eminem also tends to go back to several recurring themes. Breaking Barriers Eminem isn’t the first white rapper. He isn’t the first good white rapper. He isn’t the one who opened doors. He is the one for whom doors were opened, by artists like The Beastie Boys, Third Bass, and House of Pain. Hell, ICP was actively producing studio albums in Detroit back in 1992. They weren’t good, and still aren’t, but still…. We aren’t talking about the other guy. On behalf of white folks, I apologize for that. Historical Awareness This is an area where Eminem’s talent does him a disservice to a large group of rap fans. I love that Eminem is so aware of his place in the history of rap. But fans in their early 20s weren’t even born when Tupac and Biggie died. And those of us who have been here for the whole ride are also weighed down by that awareness. For us, everything has to be weighed against the evidence of 40-50 years of history. For them, you don’t have to understand the history of 2Pac as a dancer for Digital Underground (--RIP, Shock.--) through the release of 7 Day Theory. For many of those fans, Eminem is a history teacher lecturing them on stuff they don’t really care about. Opening Doors When you look at the last 25 years, Eminem has not been nearly as successful opening doors for other rappers. When you look at the number of artists brought up by Dre, it isn’t even a contest. If you look at the rap game in general, I would argue that Eminem did damage for his first 10 years. Eminem opened up rap to an entirely new audience. And when that door opened, it scared the everliving hell out of people. The controversy surrounding Eminem made it objectively harder for others to break into the game, while he monopolized the attention of one of the greatest power brokers in the game with Dre. I would also argue that rap has become less musically diverse than it was before Eminem entered the game, and he owns some of that. Battling In this area, I don’t know how much of the blame lies on Eminem. Stylewise, he tends to fire off glancing blows as a warning, rather than an all-out assault. That may be less about Eminem, and more about the changes in the aftermath of the East-West rivalry. But, I would love to see battling return to the days of Kool Moe Dee, LL, Canibus… for that matter bring back Roxanne Shante vs UTFO, or Roxanne vs KRS-One. Even DMX was an absolute beast. So, how do you define the best rapper? What is the metric or the category? At the end of the day, Eminem is phenomenal in several, but dominant in few. For fans who lean more heavily towards any one of those categories, it is easy to see how they may think someone else is quite simply, superior. For the record, I am not in it for the money. I love the conversation. Keep doing amazing work.

John Behen

Let's talk. I registered for Patreon for this, and even joined a Tier, to make sure you know I am serious. I will pull together my arguments tonight, but the only argument for Eminem not being the pinnacle of the rap game is this: Eminem is the culmination of the rap game, but has not truly been a catalyst for it. Want it here in words? Want it on Discord? Tell me how you want it, and I will deliver.

John Behen

Lets talk, Steve! I actually made a song on the subject a while back with lyrics in the video called Crap God. I dont want the money, I just want to have a conversation with someone on this subject who's not a Stan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-PoblkutKg&ab_channel=DejaLuMusic

Deja Lu

Yeah, he has pretty toxic fanbase which loves hating on artists not just Em and unfortunatelly in the social media world spreading hate is a lot easier than love.

cathy

I like Em...but I have to say Krayzie Bone!

Scott

Mind blown at how that guy has 2m subs. He is a moron.

Deftones4Ever

Damn, fair enough 😂

G

Hey Stevie, I think I have a few points we can have a conversation about. Strictly about him as a rapper and his lyrics/music. Let's Talk (No need for $100; big fan!) btw, neither a hater nor ill-informed.

Vishal

He is music critic, he have youtube chanel theneedledrop and about 2mil subs. Here is example video of him hating on Em https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s6kXTeNTyww

cathy

Who dat?

Gregory Knight

Yeah, I'm talking about him as a rapper bro, this ain't the challenge bro 😂

Gregory Knight

I want to see Stevie vs Fantano, I think he could be the biggest Em hater on youtube

cathy

Would be great

daniel Lynch

that would be fun!

Toni-Ann

Love the idea!

Toni-Ann

let's talk btw i'm eminem fan but please give me a chance to explains somethings

مشاري الغامدي

Let’s talk dear Stevie 😂 I am a bit cheating because I am an Eminem fan, however I think I can stand my ground on a rethorical exercice of being in the mind of someone finding Eminem « wack » WHILE being informed of his music. However, this will not be about his qualities and abilities of being a wack rapper, but a wack artist to certain that have been a fan of his first albums and following his work. I seriously doubt that anyone informed can critique Eminem of being a wack rapper. But an artist and a rapper are two very different things in the musical industry. (At least in my opinion)

G

Haha trust me I know that’s why I said it bc that’s exactly what some people wanna say to discredit him..I’m not white but I like Eminem bc he’s the best at what he does..

leo martinez

thing is, some people really have that mentality

DxShadow

I think Eminem is wack because he’s white, I think if you’re white you automatically can’t be considered a rapper...I’m being sarcastic, Eminem is #1 in my opinion..

leo martinez

Ain’t no one smoking em, like Stevie says em can pretty much do everything rap wise and do it as good or better than most others obviously there might be times where it’s a close call and it comes down to what people like on a personal level But ain’t no one smoking him

Steve Green

Bro more white peoples hate white people than u would think possible , there’s hella self hateing going on these days 🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️👌

Steve Green

are the people who cant see the video on app? i never have the issue on chrome

Transparent LFE

Can't see this one. It says to me that it is private.

halmond

I definitely would love to see a 3k collab. He’s my number 1

Jo Austral

Can't see this video

KiNGLeO 93

You really think soo? I think he would push em to be better. I really want to see em and 3stack do a song together. I honestly think Andre would smoke him too but I’d really wanna see em back against the wall.

ICUP PLOTTING

Eminem mentioned one time his albums are puzzles and he was trying to see where a track would fit in the puzzle if he added it. His entire discography is one puzzle tied together he alludes to this n Walk on Water a song about his writing created a tightrope out of twine. The average listener is not going to appreciate the puzzle. They think its mumbo jumbo. All those strings he leaves tie together somehow 🤣 I just don't have his mind to solve it. But I know enough to know its there. They just hear Bapkins Napkins 🤣🤣 Think of Eminem Discography in the center of a Giant Wall with Strings all tied to different clues almost like solving a crime. And now you have entered Eminem's mind.

Shadowlands _1

His last 2 albums are my favorites 😭 🤣 Its so crazy what appeals to different people.

Shadowlands _1

And definitely Big L. Another goat that was taken to early

Jo Austral

And Big L...

kikoolol

Lord January incoming 😂😂😂

daniel Lynch

It’s a pity though, because I know Big Pun would smoke Eminem if he was still alive and rapping today. That dude was a problem for the rap game

Jo Austral

No way anyone is coming out to take a beating

Jo Austral

I can respect your piece bro 🤜🤛

Aj Lui

MF DOOM??

Ace Adame

I want to see Stevie vs Shawn Cee

Boris Petrov

Ain’t nobody challenging haha

Levent Yesilyurt

Your a stan because I never said anything even remotely negative. So here I will put it another way. Em is so withdrawn from everyday life(eccentric) that he nolonger speaks in my language. I don't dislike him for it, I do not think he is not the goat because of it. He just in no way speaks to my vibe and his songs to me have no reply value. When he comes out with a new project I will be right there to check it out. I respect his pen and what he went through to get where he is and do not wish for him to back track but at the same time it is just not my vibe. It's my opinion, he is the goat....dead or alive and while I respect his ability I just find very little value in my journey for his music post like 08-10. No hate, no shade just not my gig. Nothing I stated was wrong because it is my opinion on my listening taste.

Marty Darnell

Can't wait to hear people thoughts and opinions against Eminem. We have to remember though, people can have different opinions even if they are wrong.

Plain_23

I can understand the first two arguments, however, the third is really only valid for the last decade of his music. Prior to Rap God, and even then very understandable, Eminem’s flows were not very rarely at supersonic speed.

Jl Melrose

Cant think of any valid argument here that will objectively make me think twice about it. But this is a great idea! Serious talk and shit.

Kostia

I’ll save you a job stevie, here’s their perspective - you ready?! Sheer, utter, blind, HATE. Either racial or that he’s too good - or BOTH. 💯 you won’t find a single INFORMED opinion that makes ANY fuckin objective sense. Facts!💯 loving the open minded mentality though bro. That’s why we love you man 🙏🙏🙏💯💯💯

Colin Harris

@kikoolol his last 3 albums to me are some of his best work just phenomenal word play and lyrics love 99% of the songs on those 3 albums now I like his old stuff as well they were fun songs but I grew up as did Marshall and so did his music. And evil twin was on mmlp2 that's still a while ago man his stuff on kamikaze and both mtbmb albums are amazing

Mike Ackerman

Do you watch any of Stevie's videos on Eminem? It's almost like you're trolling by making every argument that he addresses as uninformed as he demolishes it.

Ricky St. Augustine

All those 3 arguements may come from someone whose last album they listened was Revival.Saw some ppl still saying ,they think Em went downhill after his first 3 albums. But how can you say that,if you didn't listened anything after that?IMO,he became more lyrical after MMLP2.

Nicole Kali

Omg imma be the fly on the wall for these convos😆😆🪰🪰

Deann Bennett

Don't think anyone thinks Em is wack and bring serious reasoning to it. Sure,he has his flaws,he has some wack/weird beats & i can't relate to every topic he choses to rap about, but i still think he is one of the GOATs.Lyrically i think he is the GOAT🤷‍♀️ PS:i don't understand the reasoning in "i don't listen to Em cause of his stans"!?like wtf!I never NOT listened to an artist because of his fanbase lol. What that has to do with an artists creation?!

Nicole Kali

😆😆💵💵benzino sure does need some of that lol but hell yeah imma be a ghost presence for this convo as well😎😎

Deann Bennett

already can see the likes of charlamagne on this, that only know to say the same things over and over: 1 - start sing "My names is" (like he only have that kind of music) 2 - say i never wanted to kill my mom 3 - he is not relatable (Skill wise they can't even say nothing since that is undebatable)

Peu Oliver Guimarães

An artist doesn’t need to constantly cater to your wants. Especially Eminem lol

Goofy C

I can do that for a one or two times listen, not something in my playlist. I actually don't think I'd put more than 10 songs from this last decade in my top 40 eminem songs. The thing is songs like The Way I Am or Rabbit Run which have almost 0 bar are better to me than things like Evil Twin for example. I would srsly like him to stop rapping fast or trying to have a bar every line and "make songs" like he used to. A good proportion of his recent material feels like a freestyle on a beat (often bad) with a chorus (often awful). The Em I consider being one the Goats is the one before Recovery, since then he's top 5/10 lyricist but musically he's average at best.

kikoolol

Haha this is cool man 🔥💪

Bargard

They may be.. we ain't taking about haters they are irrelevant. but if your a genuine hip hop fan in general you don't discredit any artist for a stupid reason. You may not got to and listen too. but you can appreciate what they can do. I new of but I didnt appreciate tech 9 until stevie did the week and then you want to know more. Just need your mind opened and dive into the catalogue!

james glock

Can’t wait for people to sign up to embarrass themselves

TJ

This sh$t gonna B fire🔥🔥🔥🍿🍿

nick kelly

A lot of his haters are white though...

kikoolol

He has the inspirational songs, he has the sad songs, the funny songs, the aggressive songs, the songs where he states political and social issues.... 25 years worth haha so the fact that you don’t mess with him because he’s just “rapping to rap” is wack in itself lol.

Goofy C

@kikoolol in 25 years with the work ethic this man has its not possible for it to be 1 or 2 songs he constantly challenges himself to get better to do shit different to make you listen he has alot of beats I don't fuck with but if you tune the beat out fuck Eminem will make a beat with his flow he will make you listen to that flow to hear them bars

Mike Ackerman

I also understand that having emotional ties also extends further then just personal experience or reflection rap but that was just an example

Crispin stilwell

Definitely not wack at all. He's a seminal influence on the whole genre. He has remained relevant and is in my opinion better now than he's ever been.

Matthew Shaker

I mean it would be ok it was one song or two but... Honestly there's many of his songs in the last decade that I would enjoy way more without a beat than the ones he chose.

kikoolol

I kinda agree but I feel like songs such as "leaving heaven", "stepping stone" and "darkness" fill that role plenty, there are sections of hip hop that cater to your taste a bit more. I feel like he has spoken about his life to some of the highest degree and he can only say but so much more before he is repeating himself

Crispin stilwell

It's not even possible to call that man wack And everyone is hating his beat selection let me explain it this way When you are the best in the game how do you challenge yourself? A-you see how many off the wall beats you can ride and swap cadence's and flows on and still make it a must listen for the hip hop heads wanting to know all the insane bars he drops. Shit Stevie your a prime example of that you don't fuck with alot of his beats but you stay for the bars and what he's talking about

Mike Ackerman

He doesn’t say he can’t rap. He brings up content and not being able to relate.

Mark Bailey

I hope you get some good discussions from this Stevie! They’d definitely be interesting to watch!

Richard Overholt

I appreciate Chris’ comments, but I see those as arguments for why an individual may not enjoy Em’s music. They argue for why Em very reasonably wouldn’t be in many people’s top 5 enjoyable musicians — music to listen too. However, I’m pretty sure Stevie’s point is that we’re talking about pure rapping now — Em’s lyricism may require work to understand, but if you put in that work it’s clear that he’s a genius with that stuff. Additionally, you look at his rhythms and cadences and such. His technical rap components are at a level that maybe some others are also at, but nobody is clearly ahead of him. But, to Chris’ points, it is easy to understand how some people could say things like they can’t stand his music or such. And we haven’t even mentioned how outlandishly offensive he can be 😂😂😂

Richard Overholt

Okay so I dont think Eminem is wack at all, but if I discover the world of Hip Hop and what Eminem and a lot of rappers are all about recently and I understand why people thinl he is wack, can I talk about it?

Eduardo Rodriguez

Paging Charlamaign 😂

Feras

He is MOST definitely NOT wack! Those are just FACTS.

Jimmy McMinn

Your money is safe in your pocket. He may not be everyone’s favorite BUT he’s the best to do it!

Scott Calder

This ^^^

SharkVision

Don’t know how Chris’ comment doesn’t have a lot of likes for this. These are all facts!! The people that hate on Em go straight to these 3 things. Instead of looking at Em’s lyrical ability they tune out and select the “bad” bars he has. “Booty is heavy duty like diarrhea” is a PRIME example

SharkVision

Don't forget the because hes white argument that nobody will admit to anyway 🤣

james glock

PS: Benzino really need that $100

cr!t!c

Well I'm a fuck those arguments up haha!

Gregory Knight

DAYUM!!! This the can of worms that needs to be cracked open and shut the fuck down! I’m hella interested in being present for these conversations. Objectively, of course.

cr!t!c

I give dude all the roses. But I have avoided him for better part of a decade cause of the stans and fanbase assumptions. I respect him for fucking sure and he is a great listen but he is not in my personal rotation. Absolutely one of the greats tho.

Mr. Peabody

I didn't like Em or his music until kamikaze came out I got into it and I gave his old albums a listen now I can't stop listening to his music and reactors like Stevie help me understand the bars I completely miss

Daniel Montoya

Great idea, wanna see them debates!

Alzubair

I can see the following arguments 1.Beat selection 2.Weird ass lyrics/songs But most importantly 3. The inability to understand what he is saying on the first or multiple listens. Em is not an easy listen for the most part. And that is where I think most of your arguments will stem from.

Christopher Sumerlin

I have a feeling that there may be some people who are going to get too big for their britches just to get some air time. And I cannot wait for it. No one plays around over here😂

Amanda Eddings

You know exactly where I’m sharing this. And I’ll bet no one gonna respond to it or try you.

Michael Nielsen

Somebody get this video to Mele Mel or whatever his fuckin name is 😂😂😂

Cam Alexander

I'll always say that. If you don't like his music that's fine but calling him a trash rapper is just ignorant

GhostlyRipper

I do not think he is wack but I just am not in to much of his content lately. Music has to have emotional ties and last 2 albums has been him rapping just because he can.

Marty Darnell

Only a hater thinks Em is wack.

Dudley Wacha Okot

I agree 👌🏼

Remco

Man Is too lyrically talented to be wack, some beats are wtf and not every track is on my playlist but dudes a God of Words

Joshua
