I’m still a nobody to many but to my friends they see someone they can come to with their issues and seek guidance on how to stay away from the negative thoughts! Thank you for suggesting the song and as for your daughter opening up, I’m sure it wasn’t easy! I’m sure you know it’s harder when you come to your own parent about things they wouldn’t want you going through! Your story has brought me comfort, in its own way. My 16y/o daughter is struggling with mental illness - and she gets it from me. I've gotten her to say things she might not have admitted to otherwise through listening to music (BTS primarily - that's why I will forever love them) and having 2am dance parties in the kitchen. I would argue that music is one of if not THE most powerful medium. It has saved my life. And now it is saving my daughter's. Thank you again for sharing your story. Absolute 100% respect and admiration.

I had been suicidal since I was 12 (26 now) many times being told I sought out for attention and I was just searching for my parents acceptance. They divorced and I thought I was a cause of it, my father tried to take her life in front of me, making me question if I was ever wanted in the picture... I stayed in an empty state of mind with nothing but depressing thoughts of a world being easier without me. My mind constantly thinks of terrible accidents I wish would happen as I grew older.. it’s terrible I know. At the age of 15 I finally started getting out of it, realizing I had found an answer with finding God, only lasting 3 years and put me back in a state of depression when my father was deported, and my mother losing her job for being undocumented yet I was in a different city trying to study a trade after graduating highschool.. my only outlet was music and art, yet my own GF at the time didn’t know how to handle a mood swing from being okay one second to wanting to give it all up.. she got me help and things started turning around, mother got her citizenship l, father was having a new baby and it seemed to be a happy ending after all! 7 years into my relationship and proposing was left and told the love was no longer there while being told my career as a auto body technician would be short coming because of back injuries I had endured, I felt like once again things got dark, didnt want to talk to anyone or hear what they had to say... yet music was always there, I discovered tech in ‘08 when I was leaving 8th grade and barely entering my freshman year of highschool, giving me an outlet to write down my emotions in poems songs like these always show that being able to relate gives us more reassurance that our problems aren’t our fault but ours to overcome.. I’m glad these songs are there because it is exactly the state of mind we carry in those times .. it’s easier for me to leave this earth and relieve my pain, but what does that bring if not more pain and suffering to others making them feel at fault for “not being there” when we never felt comfortable to bring them into our pain in the first place... love the reaction Stevie I hope you do another Patreon fan contest like you did earlier this year, I have things the world needs to Hear! Anyone who has read this far! I’m sure we are all glad you are HERE! Lift your head up, those scars from the pain you went through, are now your armor. As corny as that may sound, it’s tougher skin you have from knowing things heal with time! ✊🏽 ALL LOVE!
