HAD A DOPE CONVO WITH BURDEN

Comments

Much love man, I appreciate those words a lot, I try to research so much, about everything I can, it's tough though, there's a lot of misinformation out there, worse yet...a lot of convincing misinformation aimed to manipulate, and like I said in an earlier post, statistics don't lie...but people can use statistics to lie, and they do, and that's a fact. I feel you dude, about not responding to him...but to cut off contact is how we ensure we continue the cycle in my opinion, unfortunately, these tough conversations are what needs to happen to progress forward, otherwise it will just continue the cycle of hatred IMO. We are always changing as human beings, whether for better or worse, we are all ignorant to some things, it is impossible not to be...I used to be a different person...6 years ago I didn't care for the slogan Black Lives Matter, I thought it should have been All Lives Matter, my brand new Black and Spanish colleagues at my job cared enough to help me understand, 8 years ago, I knew none of the things our government has done (Skeegee, COINTELPRO, the Panther 21 framings and imprisonments, Operation Northwoods, just to name a few, that are all admitted by the government now), 10 years ago I was a drug addict, my family and my (now) wife, saved me. I respect you for real and your opinion, but I'd prefer to try to talk it out, I'm on some real zen shit nowadays, hard for people to get to me lol, and most times they can't handle the facts, and I got a damn good memory with a shit ton of facts at my disposal. Appreciate you for real though.

JAAB

Yo JAAB lol ima need you stop responding to this dude. You broke that shit down perfectly already. If he still don’t get it then I’m sure it’s because he doesn’t wanna face that white guilt that lives deep within him. He wants to believe whites and blacks are treated equal or that whites are treated worse by police smh 🤦🏾‍♂️ I can’t respect that. But shout out to you man. I read all that shit you typed up. Informative as fuck. Shows you give a damn enough to research. That’s real

Diverse Project

Damn.. you really don’t get it. White cops aren’t killing white people because they are white! They aren’t treating you badly because you are white! So yes in your case n for many other white ppls case who’ve been mistreated by police, yes reform is needed but it’s Not a racial. Yes that’s 100000% true. But that’s ONLY true when it comes to white people. Specifically white Males who are the most privileged human beings walking this earth rich or poor. Now as for us Black people. We are literally mistreated, called racial slurs & Murdered because the color of our skin! Why don’t you get that?? For us it’s a racial & a systematic oppression issue! SMH 🤦🏾‍♂️ Damn dude this shit ain’t rocket science.

Diverse Project

I took some initiative and found it, it still shows exactly what I was referring to, 2017, 2018, 2019, none of them show me anything different. I did see a lot of other sites interpreting it the same way you are, and I believe that interpretation to be logically flawed. Here's another way to look at it, very small numbers, and a very specific statistic... Of the 47 (4.7% of 998 Police Deadly Use of Force incidents) that were “unarmed”: White – 23 Black – 18 Hispanic – 6 So there's 5 times more white people in the country than black people, (Non-Hispanic white 60.3%, Black or African-American 13.4%), yet we lost a larger proportion of the total human beings of that race in the country, which means, as a Black person in America, you are about 3.5 times more likely to be killed in an altercation with the police while unarmed (60.3 / 13.4 = 4.5 * 18 = 81 / 23 = 3.5). Hispanic and Latino (of any race) 18.5% of total pop, add that to the 13.4% Black, now we have 31.9% of the total population, about HALF of the total white population...yet now they have SURPASSED the total amount of unarmed deaths by police deadly force. This points to a systemic issue regarding bias, just based on the math, especially considering it has been going on for a long time now. There's a lot of other examples, but this is the most glaring one IMO.

JAAB

I've been watching some more, I really feel like the dude has some crazy skills, but someone is feeding him bad information, he got the wrong people around him, it's a shame IMO because he could do some crazy stuff with his way with words, but on this current path I think he's gonna crash and burn. I have so many questions too. Even his songs sound confused, half of it is this really ignorant shit, and the other half is like really intelligent and introspective, and you can tell he is speakin from the heart with a lot of it, but some just doesn't fit IMO.

JAAB

I feel very similar.

JAAB

Yes, that's exactly what kept drawing me to other videos

Chris Ruiz

I watched a couple too, I felt the same, I felt like he had some really weirdly conflicting messages.

JAAB

Give me about 24 hrs. I'm at work right now

Mike Morgan

Understand your feeling that way, but my stats are from F.B.I. /D.O.J. 2017 ( most current available) regarding law enforcement interactions. It's been a few months since I read the report, but I'll find the link and send it for you to review.

Mike Morgan

Sorry man, but we will have to agree to disagree, you feel my statistics are skewed...but I feel yours are skewed, you don't really give any basis for your reasoning as to why you think it's skewed, just your opinion. Literally nothing you said after that has any correlation to the point I made, and does not refute my point either. And that's fine you are entitled to your opinion, but you will not convince me my statistics are skewed without puttin in the work, and this post is not it. You say forget about total population, that seems pretty convenient considering it's a huge part of it for me (and many other professionals in the field, mind you), because it is definitely important, proportions of interactions are important, if you can't see that, you have a serious lack of understanding of statistics. You are only looking at raw total numbers, but that number is what is skewed, because of the raw percentage of the population white people make up (and because of this, they have more total interactions with the police in whole, and less deaths across more total interactions, this is what I mean by PROPORTIONATELY, in my original posts), I think you should fully read my post(s), because I have a feeling you skimmed parts, and that's fine, but if you're gonna debate me without reading it all you are severely hindering yourself. If you read my post in full, you would see I explained refutations for what you said already, and also already acknowledged the fact you felt the need to bring up. If you need me to elaborate at all, I can surely do so, but if you're going to call my statistics skewed, please give a better analysis as to why.

JAAB

I have so many questions for the guy after watching several of his videos

Chris Ruiz

Having said that, now that the numbers are suggesting otherwise, I just don't know what this song is attempting to accomplish. Yes, it technically can be argued as Burton and Mesus have a point. But in the grand scheme of things, imo I see this song causing more division than actually helping

Nate Schroeder

My stance is this: BLM started as an effort to start a conversation...to bring awareness to an epidemic that suggested black people were being murdered disproportionately to white people by law enforcement. Now let me say that I'm a white male in my 40s, who has always had relationships with black people from sports and being brought up through the public schools, and I totally understood what the issues with IMMEDIATELY saying "No, all lives matter" brought to the table. BLM wasn't saying not all lives matter...they were attempting to bring light to their own struggling situation. So they didn't need white people coming in putting it out there otherwise. It was rude and insensitive.

Nate Schroeder

I can't wait for this

Nate Schroeder

As far as the idea of black folks being afraid of cops. So am I. My asshole puckers Everytime I see Blue lights. I've had guns drawn down on me by white cops who knew me. They put there guns down when the realized that I wasn't a threat, but it was my behavior that kept me from being shot. The need for reform is absolute, but it's NOT RACIAL!

Mike Morgan

JAAB, your story is compelling but your statistics are very skewed. Forget total population. Doesn't compute. Cops don't interact with total population. They interact with calls for assistance or reports of crime in progress. Those are the numbers that actually prove what's going on. "Interactions with Law Enforcement Officers" of those, by percentage and number. More white men are shot or killed. (Most probably deserve it) regardless, I don't stand on either side of the issues, I'm just aware that most people aren't aware. And that the reason they aren't aware is that the media doesn't want to cover it. PERIOD!

Mike Morgan

Got a old Banger “ Swagger Like Us “ Kanye T.I Wayne and Jay z . Some heavy hitters!!

Trevor Jackson

I love that post, I have thought myself an Empath for awhile now, and I think they're real, but someone responded..."Not just empaths, a lot of people do that." Does that not sound familiar? Where in the original post (that I typed verbatim btw) does it take anything away from non-empaths? Does it say ONLY empaths can feel this way about music? For that matter...empaths are not factually evidenced, we cannot prove it, it is essentially fiction...but...this person felt left out immediately by the notion that someone else has something...a fictional label, that they don't. That's how deep-rooted it is in our society. I truly believe there is an underlying disconnect (AKA ignorance AKA fear of the unknown) not malice for a lot of people on both sides, a lot of misunderstandings. Anyways, I can't wait for the interview Stevie, this was a good one for Knight Talk, I can already tell by the dude's music video, much love bro bro!!!

JAAB

The thing about BLM (the movement) that my boss explained to me and you can find in the statistics if you analyze them objectively, is that PROPORTIONATELY, way way way way way way way more black people get killed by the police, it's not up for debate, statistics don't lie, but people most certainly use statistics to help propogate their lies, but when you look at the big picture objectively, it's a very real and very clear problem IMO. I know this might not sound similar, but I try to notice parallels in life and/or thought processes whenever I can, and I believe there is one here, so hear me out. I was reading a Facebook post today, and the OP said something like, "Empaths don't just listen to music for entertainment it's a spiritual experience when we listen to music we like, it does something to our soul"

JAAB

So in reference to this dude's song and why I said I'm torn... Because the reality is...he isn't completely wrong, there are definitely plenty white people being gunned down by cops, especially poor ones, but that's because statistically speaking, that's the normal progression of things, like... Think about it like this, just completely remove color, all black people (cops AND criminals, every last one of both) or all white people (cops AND criminals, every last one of both), natural progression will tell you that SOME people will get killed by cops no matter what, just the nature of the game, whatever demographic makes up the most of those interactions, some of them gonna get killed in the tussles, but the reality is, white people are STILL the overwhelming majority of people in America and this is key to understanding a very big part of the message of BLM (the movement), in my opinion, and why I still feel shitty that I was one of those people that couldn't see through it and I'm thankful someone else helped me understand a bit better...sooner rather than later.

JAAB

He explained a bunch more stuff to me and I took it all in and ended up seeing a lot of his perspective because of his ability to talk with me (instead of callin me a racist white boy) and help me understand through his experiences, and now I agree with it almost completely (after doing a bunch of my own research too) and he's my brother for life, I will be forever thankful to him for helping to open my eyes to my own ignorance a little bit more (I am still ignorant btw, we all are, it is impossible not to be, but an objective, open-mind is essential to progressing past it IMO) and tons of other awesome conversations me and him had.

JAAB

My boss looked at me and walked over smiling his big confident, bordering-on cocky smile (he's an awesome human being btw, love that man for life, he a real OG from NYC in his 40s) like he always did, and he said, as he put his arm around me like a father would... "You absolutely right my brother, all lives do matter, all of em, every last one of em, but ALL lives ain't being treated like this my brother, all lives ain't bein treated like they DON'T matter, it's black people being disproportionately killed by police out there, yea white people get it too, but the statistics don't lie, it ain't the same"

JAAB

He honestly caught me off-guard, I had already got it in my head that they all were just talking and I wasn't a part of the conversation in any way as a white dude, and I respected that tbh (first off, it was my boss directly asking me this, and I was 100% the minority in this workplace, and I didn't want to upset anyone and I try not to diminish other people's struggles, I don't know their life or what they been through, we are all a product of the sums of all our experiences, for better or for worse, but I always speak my mind and how I feel). I said, through some pauses and probably very clear (and most likely intentional by him) nervousness... "I dunno man...like I get it, black lives matter, and in my opinion they absolutely do matter, and I mean that, I really feel that way...but shouldn't we say "all lives matter"? I mean I think definitely that black lives matter but I dunno if I agree with the message really, I think all lives matter, black, brown, white, asian, all of em"

JAAB

When BLM (the movement) first started gettin big in 2015/2016 (or at least when I started hearing about it more), I was working in a call center with a lot of black and spanish people back home in New Jersey. I have always been able to fit in with groups pretty well in general and never have issues makin friends. I ended up talkin mostly with my boss (who is very proud of his heritage as a native american/puerto rican, shout out to the Tainos of Puerto Rico, the Borinquén) and a couple others that I still talk to this day. I'll never forget the day for as long as a live, it definitely helped me learn how deep-rooted the indoctrination of division is...and I was no exception. I don't remember which one of the very many horrible stories was going around at the time, but they were all talkin about it, and I do my best to try to not speak about things I don't understand, so I just mostly stayed quiet listening...but at some point, as the night was coming to the end, my boss turns to me and goes..."hey Joe...so what you think about all this? the BLM stuff?"

JAAB

Wrote way too much for character limit per message, check replies for full thing I'll be honest...I'm very torn here...let's start with the music though. The song is fire as fuck, like...seriously, dude has some serious skills, flow crazy, delivery disgusting, I honestly got chills, lyrics...they bars for sure, and I really and truly understand his perspective (didn't care for the second guy much tbh though). Alright so now to the other part...the message, not sure if I mentioned this story to you already Stevie, but this is my thoughts as someone who...kind of subscribed to this mentality in the past, but I had thoughtful people around me at the time that showed me their perspective and helped me see outside my own personal box (anecdotal experience), so let me share that.

JAAB

Stevie this is why I love you and your channel. Never afraid to take on difficult topics or talk to anyone. Can’t wait for this interview.

Jared Vorhees

Looking forward to the interview.
