EMINEM & GRIP - WALKTHROUGH

Comments

Im going start calling that a telegraph flow. Lol

Mark

These days I don't mind Stevie giving Em a weak review. Makes it all the more fun to watch him turn around on the 2.0! I thought this track was 🔥 in entirety, it just sounded so pleasing!

Nadia GardenCounty

I don’t get what a corny punchline is haha a punchline is a punchline regardless. Em has literally rapped about everything he can rap about. There’s nothing wrong with him fucking around on songs haha

Goofy C

Oh man how good would an OutKast/ Em track be 😱

Memo

Stevie a little sleepy and totally understandable. Re-visit back on your game but congratulations!!!!!!!

Scott Calder

I could be reaching but when he says his back is not against a wall more like a cross is him saying he is a god

Coty Haack

Agree. His flow was amazing. Gotta be just as hard to write a paragraph having every vowel rhyme where you want it to sound like this. It’s not like he was saying random shock value as in relapse. Weren’t rappers bitching about him being too good? Lol. So maybe he chilled out a bit with the “puzzle” shit or whatever Stevie called it n just literally brought this beat to the trauma unit like he said

Gary Raffa

After mentioning OD he proceed to talk about AUTOTUNE this was RECOVERY era when people give up on Em after Relapse, it was shift in the music artist start to use a lot of autotune and Em refused to comply. couple lines later I see at least few lines about ‘Shady XV’ album on which he put his’ family on’ at this point Em started using more complex bars and then the whole wall/cross/past ya complicated bar remined me of ‘Kings never dies’ Next is REVIVAL ‘Walk on water’ – bar way high to reach, Fall KAMIKAZE -be ready to fall, airplane crash. MTBMB era/ EPMD2 – last bar about getting flowers is definitely the best bar of the song to showcase grow plus is reference to Nas line about getting yourself roses and Em actually did that in this song when he also try to talk to Grip about the game.

cathy

I think I may have an answer why Em chosen to not get bar heavy, at least in first half of the song. Somebody mentioned to me that he shuts out his whole catalogue during this verse (chronically). So, I set down with the verse and discover few tracks and this could be a case. at beginning he refers to ‘Brain Damage’ SSLP and ‘The way I am’ MMLP ‘I ‘m Back’ MMLP this era of the storyteller - Em use great cadences and rhymes patterns, no heavy bars to break. Bleach Blond hair reminded me of ‘White America’ TES and demonic sh*t about ‘Rain Man’ ENCORE– next line ‘I was knockin' at death's door (Yep), I f*ckin' ding-dong ditched it’ This line and next after have Relapse vibes – He OD before making this album, Em made improper/dark jokes (taking something very dark and laugh at it) plus sound of the rhymes are just too familiar to it .

Tbh I think his “yeah” before he starts his verses is just him truly feeling himself and his best rn…and tbh I think he’s easily in his prime at the moment

Michael r

I think this has been one of his better verses. Better than the last few

Gary Raffa

I don’t think you appreciated ems verse as much as it deserves

Zackery

Grips first verse reminds me of Royce, Just in terms of flow and rhyme scheme

Ryan J Lesniak

I thought this verse was 🔥- made up for a pretty weak verse on Nas’s album IMO. Really fuck with Grip as well, still waiting for Boogie’s 2nd album on Shady to drop though.

Tim

I’ve been watching reactions and it seems like a lot of people haven’t been catching bars like that one. I guess the cadence is just hypnotizing them to not listen for bars😂 we need knox hill to break this song down

caleb

Yeah and Stevie didn't catch most of the bars/metafors like for example that line: When I say that the wall it is not against It's more like the cross, Jesus was crucified by people who didn't believe he's The God - Em is crucified by haters who don't want to admit he's Rap God Em have quite great bars here no corny daddy jokes , I love it.

cathy

Been listening to it all day on repeat, Royce didn't get washed and as far as the beat is concerned it's definitely different but after listening in the car a few times it grew on me and sounds good but I play drums and like the old school rock sound of it and with the bass hitting it sound crazy.

WILL PULERA

Not sure if it because Grip is from ATL, I felt like it had an OutKast vibe to the song.

WillyPete

Yea I agree. I liked all his features but they could be way better if he didn’t have just a couple of those corny lines. This one, he doesn’t have corny lines at all but it still has bars so idk how people are mad

caleb

Exactly what I had been saying to people . SMH This is substance, the lines which are not in your face bars/metafors you need to think to get them, overall meaning behind it is great. Finally track without corny bars at which he laugh at in ad libs, I swear to God Em propably make does just for the haters smh. Don't get me wrong I like wordplay but sometimes is just overdone this track is perfect .

cathy

Shut up nerd, you wouldn't know what dope was if it smacked you in the face if you think Placebo is the worst song on the album!

WILL PULERA

Bruh you work fast as fuck ! Man congrats on the baby king

Cam Alexander

That’s ok that it’s your opinion - good thing music is objective :)

Brett Hickey

No corny punchlines=no substance apparently 😂😂

caleb

get yourself some sleep, Stevie! you're making ME tired just watching you.. LOL

Mister Lou

I think what Stevie said is a good example of what Eminem talks about in Premonition. How people want him to do one thing, then he does it and then gets crucified for not doing the other. So he probably listens to everyone bitching about how his verses are too lyrical and bar heavy and they don’t like to listen to that, so he is just mixing it up to do a little of everything.

Erick Mendez

Sometimes it just takes a crazy technical verse. He gave us many bars on EPMD2 so I appreciate the change. Love Grip’s voice and unorthodox flows.

Kostia

Jordan, I agree. And someone pointed out to me that the thought balloons are comics stuff so a soft very plausible intentional venom like flow for that bar and sequence after being very reminiscent of venom

Stephen Rask

Bruh do the Royce song, it's even crazier than this.

WILL PULERA

He sort of had a venom like cadence towards the latter third of his verse. Right before the balloon pop adlib it almost sounds like he’s spitting out the words with the hard p’s & t’s at the end of words. Not sure I’ve heard much of that flow since Venmo

Jordan Jansen

Nah, thats what i would call a reach. He used travis scott adlibs before. On marsh specifically

Sergiy Angelyniauk

nah he being shitting auto tune for a long time

Peu Oliver Guimarães

So was the “sing song bitch shit i don’t use auto tune” a Travis Scott diss? He did the sound Travis puts in all his songs

Mark Bailey

🤣🤣 Fml 🤦‍♂️

Steve Green

Barre the duck 🦆 😂

RachelMD

Bared the fuck * 🤣

Steve Green

Yea real shit he barre the duck out of mtbmb but sometimes u just want something to sound good Smashed it IMO anyways both of them 🔥🔥

Steve Green

But this track was fire🔥🔥🔥

Musa Shabulinzenze

He can’t just Bar Bar everytime, maybe he wants to mix it up sometimes

Musa Shabulinzenze

Yea I was going to say the same

Mike

Fax

Musa Shabulinzenze

Grip 🔥🔥🔥

MimiLoveee♡

Its 🔥😈🐐

MimiLoveee♡

I love the beat, love the hook and both verses were amazing. I think it is unreasonable to expect Em to just do bar dense verses every time and I love that he gives us variety.

RachelMD

MATH ROFFA said on Drinks Champ that EM new style is like Battle rap, he start slow, them pick up pace, and finishs crazy he did that on the whole album MTBMB album... and now he did in a single verse!! And that GRIP is a Triple just got it... Grip the Bar he said bf, Grip the artist and Grip the moment! The "Cross" line i think is bc when ppl hang the cross in their houses on church... ppl are literally putting a cross against a Wall, and maybe is a reach but when u Crucify someone like ppl do to EM they are figuratively putting him against the "wall" right? I Really enjoyed the Track and the flows on it!!

Peu Oliver Guimarães

Look at how far this (father) is past you (pastor) to match with the cross line before FIREEE🔥

Purav

Great reaction as always bro. Glad I became a patron.

Dylan Grunwald

Ur vocals sound was really low and the track was loud I had 5o keep turning it up and down lol

Mike Ackerman

Unreal track - cant wait to hear the Royce/Grip breakdown for Placebo

Brett Hickey

Talking about SNL "It was a pretty popular show" "I've probably seen it three times" Omg I love this channel! 🤣🤣🤣

Amanda Eddings

Grip can rap rap.

matt thompson

Really enjoyed this track. I think that em sometimes wanna mix it up. Like in some tracks he wanna showcase his cadence. And othertimes he Will be barring your head off.

Kreshnik Raca

I think with the cross bar, it was a lyric fuck up. I think he’s saying “it’s more like the cross” meaning his back isn’t against the wall, it’s against a cross because no matter how much good he does, he still gets crucified. At least that’s what I got from it.

Dub Heirs

Nice word play by Grip..Em didn't overwhelm the track,,solid all around 👊🍻

Eric Bagetis

Fire ass track, really enjoyed it🔥🔥😍

Victoria

Loved it. Liking grip more n more. They compliment well together and em didn’t take over the song. Neck n then em with the long neck 🤣🤣…🥰🥰 much love xoxo Boss lady Dee Ps: the ding dong was when he od and he’s saying he was at death door but he just dinged dong it..😎😎

Deann Bennett

His best feature in a while 🔥🔥🔥 The flow in this is amazing

D D

Solid 9 out of 10. Idk if its production or not but some of the words were hard to hear throughout both verses.

Sergiy Angelyniauk

The track is atomic🔥👏💣🧨
