2021-09-19 20:06:59 +0000 UTCEncore (middle section that had the last minute replaced songs for the ones that leaked) was peak druggie Em (ignoring the leaks from King Mathers) and Relapse was the first album he wrote when he mindd was sober and completely unfogged again. That's why his rhyme scheme and technical ability are NUTS on this album. The one exception is Beautiful - he wrote the 1st 2/3s of that song in rehab in 2005 when he was still on drugs, and the final 1/3 he finished in 2009 once sober.

I believed he has stated encore he was on drugs n relapse he was flushing them out. I also think since he went 5 years without dropping, he thought the slim shady persona is what people wanted, and he was relearning how to rap(hence the accents n crazy flows n outlandish lyrics n humor). Album didn’t do as good as expected. Beautiful was a big hit though. He dropped recovery which was personal n he was on top again. N Em has stated he would much rather be that type of rapper from Recovery then ever make another we made you. The silly shit

Em writes constantly, he'll grab a napkin if needed and pulls from all that when he records later. During 8-mile he started taking sleeping pills to help him sleep which became his original addiction. He went to rehab cuz it was recommended but he wasn't ready nor believed he needed help yet. He cut his stay short and relapsed for the 1st time after Proof died, went insane with uppers and downers during his depression to help with basics like getting up, moving around and sleeping again, he was broken. Proof saved him from his childhood nightmare and Em didn't know normal until D12, that's how messed up his childhood was. Proof was his brother, father, best friend and he spiraled out of control quickly. Up to 20-30 pills a day to function. The night he ran out of pills his Dealer said: "All I got is Methadone", Em said "Sure" and that was his 1st and last experience with methadone. His1st attempt was a rehab facility, it's mentioned here: "Cause last year was a tragedy that landed me smack-dab in rehab Fuckin' doctor, I ain't understand a damn word he said I planned to relapse the second I walked out of that bitch Two weeks in Brighton, I ain't enlightened Bitin' into a fuckin' Vicodin like I'm a Viking"
