EMINEM'S BIGGEST HATER OR NAW?

I personally would rank music to be murdered by as Eminem’s best. It’s close but I think he gave you everything in that album. He talked his shit to multiple people in These Demons, Zeus, GNAT, and I Will, gave you the motivation songs in Higher and NO Regrets, he hit you with his most bar crazy songs in Alfred’s Theme and Book of Rhymes, gave you a monster hit in Godzilla and showed that he’s the fastest as well, He gave you club bangers in Killer, then remixed it with the new school artists and Lock it Up with Anderson Pakk, and Those Kinda Nights was another have fun song. Just a complete masterpiece top to bottom. Not many records have that many hits that all should be on the radio but no one really bumps the radio anymore.

All you need to be a hater is to be biased against something and use that stance to form your opinion. Yes, Eminem can be corny and cheesy at times. Most of the time, it is intentional and part or a larger scheme where it is appropriate and some times it can be a call back to something from within an album or from a prior album. Someone well-studied can acknowledge the origins and reason and state whether they appreciate it or not. Based on the videos I saw, this person takes anything that could be up for debate in any song (portions that aren't absolute fire unanimously) and plays the devil's advocate. It is readily apparent to anyone watching that presenting the minority opinion online is a interesting way to build a fan base but can also being simplified in a mostly correct statement, "to profit off of being a hater". I don't like the guy because he does not come off as genuine. Stevie, Knox Hill, and Scriptworks are biased as well, but do a great job in being upfront about what they like and being as objective as they can. I can't appreciate a person like Fantano, but I understand that people who don't like an artist or need a dissenting opinion need a person to follow as well. Sorry for the rambling

I would suggest watching one of his full reviews on Eminem's albums/stuff to get a better idea. That compilation makes him look less objective than he usually is. He's obviously someone who likes to hate for views, but he can be a bit objective and sometimes I agree with his views.

Eh, I think Anthony is pretty fair to Eminem. He certainly hasn't loved Em's last few albums (and as a fan of Eminem from way back neither have I), but he really bigged up Killshot, MMLP2, and the Chloraseptic (Remix) when they came out. He also was really favorable towards Em when he talked about that interview series Em did with Sway a couple years ago. So while Anthony has been hard on Eminem recently, he has also given Em credit when he drops stuff he feels is quality.

He has gone into albums (not just Em’s) expecting to either hate it or love it which I really think is a bad thing if you’re trying to be a “critic.” And it’s pretty clear that he now has a negative opinion of Em going into all his new music. I understand what you’re saying about him being classified as a critic, not a reactor. Him being recognised in the industry doesn’t mean his reviews are always going to be constructive and professional. I think it’s fair to say that he isn’t always as unbiased as he should be. A critic shouldn’t go into reviewing an album thinking they aren’t going to like it. It’s unprofessional. As a critic (and not a reactor), you have to be consistent across all artists of a genre with how you score. You also shouldn’t score solely based on how much you like it yourself. Can you agree that his MTBMB scoring of 5/10 for Side A and 3/10 for Side B are obvious examples of him holding Eminem to a different standard?

If we're being honest here, we need to accept that Mr. Fantano is NOT a reactor. He is a music critic who has been acknowledged by many professionals in the field, has been interviewed by a lot of very well-known publishers and has been doing this for well over a decade. He is well versed in many different genres of music and understands how to write/produce and also knows how to play multiple musical instruments. For starters...he's not a phony, he's well versed in the music industry. The video here is just cherry-picking some of the more aggressive lines and statements that have come out of his reviews, but if you actually watch full album reviews...he gives A LOT of context to his statements and does a good job of explaining his thoughts on the production, the sonic effect, the technical abilities of the artist and the over all feel of the album. He has released a video explaining how he does his reviews and has even changed his mind years later as he grows and re-listens. It's quite interesting to see how he analyzes an album and how many times he listens to it before making a video. We can all disagree with him as much as we want, but his stance over the last few years with Em has been simple...he expects better ALL AROUND...not just lyricism and cadence. We all know that is a valid opinion. If you all want to see what he's really looking for. Go watch his K Dot review for To Pimp a Butterfly. He gave it 10 out of 10...and does an amazing job explaining why.

Melon is clearly not a hater. Yes, he has heavily criticised Eminem’s music, and sometimes is maybe a bit harsh, but it is all subjective and his reviews are based on that statement. It is not as if he was hating without explanation. He particularly dislikes Eminem’s « corny » bars, especially when it doesn’t fit a « serious » subject. I often find the bars he quotes as purposefully corny and funny, but hey, that’s my opinion. On the last two reviews of Side A and B, the criticism he gave was completely understandable, and he often has some valid points concerning the production and the album as a whole body of work. Did I agree with his 5/10 and 3/10 ? No, but it still was interesting.
