2022-01-06 06:12:04 +0000 UTCI've wrote a comment before trying to shed some light on his exposure situation. He basically bit the hand that fed him(Eminem/Shady records). When Yelawolf first signed to Shady, Em was trying to push him in the mainstream lane, hence his first album on Shady, "Radioactive". Yelawolf wasn't feeling that style and didn't care about that market. He wanted to and has always stayed true to himself. There was a large gap in his releases from Shady at that point. He released the HOTEL EP on his own regardless of his contract to put out the music he wanted to make. Eventually Eminem basically said fuck it and tossed him the keys and said do what you want. At that point he quit promoting Yelawolf's music though. Yelawolf fulfilled his album contract agreement with Shady, but did it in his own way and fashion. He just didn't get the marketing push that he would have had if he didn't go against the grain. So regardless of him being a Shady records artist, he was basically independent putting a Shady records label on his albums.

It's a shame DJ klever had to go, his cuts and scratches and production on this mixtape and the ghetto cowboy album are almost a Yelawolf era in themselves.
