Yeah, hard beats and just bangers, no random stuff, that would be nice for his next album, but I don't have very high hopes. His performance on the mic (delivery, his tone of voice, his overall energy) has been so underwhelming to me lately, it gives his new music less replay value for me. Hoping he switches it up for his next project.

Another typical modern Em verse. Still a rhyming genius, but the rest is not enjoyable to me. I mean Em can do whatever he wants to, whatever inspires him, I'll still check it out. But Em has changed so much, it's crazy. Even compared to his Kamikaze stuff, 3-4 years ago. Can you imagine modern Em making another "The Ringer"? Is it because he absolutely needs to be angry to sound motivated on the mic?

Eminem is my favorite rapper. But all his features since side B he has had the same robotic/calm flow with no energy in his voice at all. He is capable of making trash beats disappear just from his cadence mixed with the energy/aggression in his voice. That will not happen with the style he is doing now. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed all these features until this one. This one just doesn’t sound right. He is punching in weird spots which may sound better if he rapped it differently. Its like being way too technical to where its not pleasing to the ear. He always punched in awkward spots and made it sound good. Just not here imo. He can make this verses hit harder if he just pulled a bit emotion and energy. It’s not like he lost it, its very present in Kamikaze and side A. Thats just me though, Its just a bit off talking shit in such a calm rapping talking style

I loved it. I like his tone, the content, the flows and different cadences. I like that there were some fast and some slow parts and it all sounds audibly pleasing to me. I always listen to it myself first before looking at any comments, but I think I’m going to stop looking at comments all together. Because all of the negativity after every time he drops is just really starting to bum me out. No wonder he feels like he can’t win.

Why, short answer, the brain does not process trauma. Trauma never gets filtered out (unless its blocked) like other tidbits of information as we age. Goes back to animal instincts, a wounded animal never forgets a perceived threat or dangerous situation, that's how they learn to protect themselves moving forward. The brain has to delete things as we go to ensure some things remain, like in your storage cloud, some shit goes and some shit stays. Facing your past only teaches you how to cope and deal with life better. Trauma and addiction go together well because substance use is a great outlet when you don't know how to deal with said flashes and the maladaptive behaviours one picks up to survive the trauma they are experiencing as a child. Many survivors of childhood abuse will say healing is a life long process.

I think the double time occurrences have to do with what Knox talks about a lot: you can only rap on a beat with a finite number of cadences, and most artists pick one that works and ride it. That’s awesome and I think he changes it because he’s already done that so many times in his career that he’s not trying to be “better” every time but be “greater” every time by reinventing how one approaches any beat on any track
